Meet Ericka Sance of Ericka Sance And The Terrestrials in The Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ericka Sance.

Ericka, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started daydreaming more than nightdreaming at a very young age. The natural world that surrounds us started to fill me with its enchantment and I began to listen. The sound of music was all around me. The birds and the trees harmonizing with the wind. That’s where it all began for me.

But living in Los Angeles has been disheartening at times. It’s easy to get caught into the synthetic web of doing things around. It’s hard to break out of the daily algorithms that are designed to sabotage our independence.

But I have found a way to live my life with the enchantment that I was born with and apply it to everything that I do.

There’s an organic way of living life through the inorganic world. It always takes me exactly where I need to be. I never really think about things too much. I do what feels natural. It’s not always easy but I don’t worry much.

I feel fortunate to travel. Anywhere in the world, I can recognize that form which is inorganic. I try to work my magic through it and hope I make it out alive. Playing music. Painting butterflies. I’m happy to have a clear vision of the organic world and not be distracted by the synthetic way others choose to live.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a Rocky Road all along. As much as I like to apply the organic way of living my life, it’s hard keep the natural flow going with so much negativity and chaos that this world is passing through. Its reflection shows up clearly with the riots. Peoples minds screaming about publicly on the streets. The world is literally on fire. But this isn’t something that we haven’t dealt with before. The obstacles and challenges have always been relatively the same throughout time.

Please tell us more about what you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I’ve been having a lot of fun recording at Radio Astro Studios this year with my friends. I am traveling across Europe & playing some gigs at the moment. Taking a break from the Studio to work on some more songs. Looking forward to get back in and finish the record. I have been very fortunate to have the support from other amazing Artists on the making of this record to be. I have been a bit quite about the Artists involved because I want people to focus on the music. Everything else will reveal itself. Making music is what I truly devote myself to fully. Painting and dancing Ballet is like a hobby for me. It’s in a way a form of meditation. I’m also studying Tai-Chi while on this trip. I like to fill my time doing different things that can support and strengthen me as an artist. I don’t think of my music as a business. But I understand that I live in the 21st century (laughs). We have to live with this duality of the organic and inorganic world. I have accepted that I’m in this business now. But I like to do things my way. I like to be independent and I go about this business differently. I don’t have a manager or a team of people manipulating my career, telling me what to do and trying to make a fortune out of my creativity. I love what I do and how I do it. I only like to work with people who care about the music.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Not knowing anything. That truly is my favorite childhood memory.
