Meet Eric Vitwar of Tuttle Cameras in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Vitwar.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Eric. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Harvey and Dick Tuttle opened the first store after serving in WWII in 1946 on 2nd street in Belmont Shore and a second store in 1947 on Atlantic Ave. in Bixby Knolls, Today the store is located at 5467 E Carson Street which is now the only location. I started working for the Tuttle family in 1990 and purchased the store from them in 1998. Photography has been a passion of mine since high school and I love capturing images with all kinds of cameras.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles in running a business and how you get through some of those curve balls is what makes you evolve and hopefully become even better. The state of California is our biggest struggle with sales tax increases and wage increases.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tuttle Cameras – what should we know?
Tuttle Cameras has been in Long Beach since 1946 and we specialize in everything photographic, and imaging. We carry all the major brands like Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Promaster, Tamron, Delkin, Tamrac, LowePro and much more. We do camera repair, develop and print all film sizes, photo restorations, custom printing, classes and workshops, & passport photos. The thing we are most proud of is also what we are known for and that is our customer service. We are here to help photographers get the best images and then print them so generations can enjoy their family memories. “Don’t let your babies grow up to be Jpegs.”

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Once again our customer service is why we are here.
