Meet Eric Hanusa of BodyFitLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Hanusa.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been in the health and fitness industry my entire life starting; out as a competitive athlete. I traveled around the country on a select soccer team. I was the captain of my high school team also and ranked all-state going into college. I also competed in gymnastics, baseball, basketball, track, and swim team.

When I decided to further my education after high school, personal training was an easy and logical fit. Even in my teenage years, I had been helping people build muscle, lose unneeded body fat and to get (and stay) in shape. I started out personal training at the YMCA. I continued my education and training in Austin Texas where I took a training position at a corporate facility called Club One. Then, when I moved out to Los Angeles, I started my training career at LA Fitness.
After a few years of building up clientele, I eventually opened up my own private training business called BodyFitLA, from which I now train independent of any personal training gyms; and often times train clients in at their home, in private training facilities, in parks around Los Angeles, Skype training sessions, and via consultations with corporate America.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a fairly smooth road these past few years. Of course, there are those times as a trainer where your clientele base drops off due to the economy. But many clients end up returning; and often times end up referring their friends, family and colleagues to me.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with BodyFitLA – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
BodyFitLA focuses primarily with people who need the specialized care of a personal trainer to lose the unhealthy weight and body fat (and often times medications) that they are now unfortunately struggling with. What makes me love my job is the fact that I am quite literally helping people get their lives back. I get the privilege to help people realize that they do have a choice and don’t need to live with the complications that come with being overweight. They can live without diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, etc. All they need is the right guidance and knowledge to start making the correct lifestyle choices.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
My favorite thing about Los Angeles is the perfect weather and being so close to the ocean. The thing that I like the least would have to be the traffic and lack of efficient public transportation.
