Meet Emily Maclin of Think Legacy Financial Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Maclin.

Emily, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My career has spanned 19 years in Corporate Finance at two Fortune 100 companies. After being in the workforce for nearly 20 years and balancing a young family, and a growing desire for more impactful work, financial freedom and time freedom I was prompted to seriously explore entrepreneurship, which is where I am today building my financial coaching firm Think Legacy Financial Coaching.

I always had a love for numbers and budgets and things of the financial nature. I have an accounting degree and spent 10 of my 19 years as a corporate accountant. So numbers is my jam, however life happened and I found myself in my early 30s in a financial fog. I have always earned a great salary but allowed the lifestyle creep to hold my financial future hostage. After living the maxed out credit card and paycheck to paycheck life on a six-figure salary, I got completely fed up. Seriously, sick of worrying about money, sick of making “all this money” and NOTHING to show for it and I decided to do something about it. My company was birthed out of the desire to help other families do the same, to create a plan for your money that gets them out of the paycheck to paycheck cycle, slash debt, save more and give more.

My firm was started in December 2018. My mission is to help professional women, specifically working moms to T.H.I.N.K.money and guide them in creating a financial legacy they can be proud of. I am a proud wife and mom of 3 children, and I value faith and finance. I use this unique approach of combining faith and finance to build confidence and competence in four areas – Mindset, Skills/Knowledge, Behavior and Stewardship.

As a personal finance coach who has spent the last nearly 20 years working in Corporate Finance, I bring to the table my finance experience and desire for all families to thrive financially and create the opportunities for multiple generations to do the same. My ultimate goal with clients is to teach them how to become the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of their financial lives and create a financial legacy that says they handled God’s money well and nurtured and taught the next generation to do the same.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest struggle has been just building the faith to take the leap, to believe in myself and skills enough to create a business to help others overcome what I have overcome.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Think Legacy Financial Coaching story. Tell us more about the business.

I really want to encourage women to think beyond the next two week pay period and craft a plan that will allow them to leave a legacy that generations beyond them can benefit from. I teach the basics of personal finance and how to maximize your household income by creating a spending plan, eliminating debt and planning for your legacy.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Honestly, I can’t credit luck of any kind to the success or failures of my life and business. I’m a believer and I believe we all have a destined path designed for our lives if we allow the word of God to guide our lives.
