Meet Emily Gold of Cosmo Gold in Highland Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Gold.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a musician from Los Angeles, California. I taught myself guitar about ten years ago and knew immediately I wanted to write songs. I began pursuing a professional career in music a couple of years later, doing solo acoustic gigs and session work as a vocalist and songwriter.

Since then, I’ve been involved in many different types of projects, I really enjoy all types of music and aspects of making it. I formed a band Velvet a few years ago that began as a solo project with a rotating cast of members but I was craving something more collaborative so slowly but surely I sought out people I wanted to create with.

We recently renamed ourselves Cosmo Gold and will be releasing our first record in June.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. There, continues to be struggle and learning opportunities that come up but I do feel as if I’m creating more balance in my daily life, rather than letting every little problem that arises completely consume me — trying to understand my own physical and emotional limits.

Please tell us about Cosmo Gold.
My band is called Cosmo Gold. We are a rock band, we will be releasing our debut EP in June 2019.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I think I really enjoyed my dance classes, I took classes most days of the week after school for 12 or so years.
