Meet Emilio Coochie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilio Coochie.

Hi Emilio, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got started with photography and video in high school. I was taking a photo journalism class and rented out my first professional camera. I was very influenced by the then MySpace “influencers” photos on their profiles and I started taking photos of myself just to upload to social media and soon after that, I started taking photos for classmates for graduation or other events. My mom bought me my first camera for college and I continued pursuing photography and videography as a side hustle while working 9-5’s. In late 2017, I messaged Megan Thee Stallion on Snapchat and told her I was a fan of her work and wanted to know if she would be interested in allowing me capture some behind the scenes content for her. She gave me her manager’s contact info and it’s been history ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. As a creative, I get sensitive about my work or may doubt myself but I have to remember that the stars aligned themselves for me for a reason. I am where I’m at for a reason. So I shake it off and get back to regular scheduled programming.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is very versatile. I do concert photography, portraits, lifestyle photos, etc. The list goes on. Videography is super fun for me too. My video capturing style is very much “fly on the wall.” I feel like it allows me to capture the most intimate/authentic moments. I also am like a little social media wizard so I’m constantly scrolling on TikTok for creative inspo. I’m basically a three man band. My most proud moment of my career so far would definitely have to be getting my photos featured in Vogue.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in “luck”. I believe in working hard and divine timing.
