Meet Elsie Acevedo of Deluxe Screen Printing in Downtown Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elsie Acevedo.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Elsie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After being laid off from my sales position for a large commercial screen printing company in LA , due to work going overseas, screen printing was all I was trained in, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own business from the ground up….in my garage, in Silverlake. That was 2008. With my connections to the garment industry I was able to acquire accounts and started off doing only sample printing for them, which there was a demand for, that not all printers were offering. We quickly grew and then moved into a warehouse in DTLA. As we grew, we added more accounts outside of the apparel industry that needed screen printing.

Quickly we became more of a boutique type printer, specializing in hand made, manual screen printing in Downtown L.A. Serving aspiring designers, up and coming labels, bands, celebrity clientele, fitness, yoga, the vegan community, swag for events, mom and pop, and everything in between.

We are women owned, operated, and proud to serve our community and local businesses with integrity, honesty, and fun.

Our Motto is…”We’re Tiny, But We’re Mighty!”

Has it been a smooth road?
Four years ago, my business partner Liza passed away from Breast Cancer. For a bit, it was tough having to run the business by myself.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We offer Screen Printing services for both the apparel industry and public sector. We do a range of inks from plastisol, water base, puff, and foil inks.

We specialize and known for printing only manually, with no automated machinery. Every print is hand printed, one piece at a time assuring a higher quality print.

We are not a typical commercial printer, we specialize in smaller runs and offer more of a white glove service. We consider ourselves more of a boutique type printer.

Our factory has more of a design aesthetic, located in downtown LA. where we invite people to view our product and print samples, in the comfort of our showroom.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think it’s a good city for this type of business because the garment industry is located within this region.

However, because of that, there may be too much competition out there. I’m not sure I would recommend them starting them up here, perhaps in areas less saturated with current printers in the area.
