Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Morgan.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved skincare and it’s been a passion of mine for years. Due to growing up with chronic acne and its effect on my self-esteem, I wanted to understand my condition and to help others going through the same struggle.
Acne and other skin conditions are often complex reflections of both external and internal factors and I enjoy using my knowledge and healing facials to help my clients feel happy and healthy in their own skin. My job is such a unique intersection of connection with my clients and using my particular set of skills and knowledge with the hope that I may change someone’s life. Feeling more comfortable in our own skin can be life-changing in many ways. I am lucky enough to have clear skin now after years of research and hard work, and I find it immensely fulfilling to help others reach a similar goal. I get so much satisfaction at seeing the joy that great results bring. The pandemic disrupted our industry very intensely, and when I found myself unemployed for a time, I made plans for what I wanted my next chapter in my career to look like. I had already been an esthetician for years and had worked for a wonderful spa with great mentors, but I knew it was now time to open up my own business and run my own skincare studio. That was two years ago, and I have continued to flourish in my dream location.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely the pandemic disrupted my process in the sense that I was unable to work for a time when I was living with high-risk loved ones. Once we were able to get vaccinated, I then felt like it would be safe enough for me to return to work (masked, of course) and start seeing clients for facials again. I still test myself regularly to make sure I am keeping my clients safe. It was also very important to me to open my business in the perfect location, so I waited until I found a space that felt right. Owning my own business has been one of the scariest but also one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences of my life. I have found that the experience requires me to be very flexible and patient with the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my esthetician work, I specialize in facial treatments such as peels, microdermabrasion, and relaxing facials. I also do a lot of brow shaping which I thoroughly enjoy! I am very proud of how I have cultivated a wonderful, loyal clientele over the years and developed a unique style of facial treatment that combines elements of relaxation with great results. I also offer tarot readings to clients and through my Etsy shop. I have always been very intuitive and this felt like a very natural (if unique) addition to my service menu!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I highly recommend connecting with others in your field through social media and in person. Every esthetician I know offers a very unique service and I tend not to see anyone as competition but as peers and colleagues. There are so many people to learn from. I encourage other beauticians to continue to learn from each other, ask questions and for advice, and uplift each other. There are more than enough clients for all of us to flourish.
