Meet Elisia Menjivar of Chatsworth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisia Menjivar

Hi Elisia , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a fatherless home, surrounded by addiction and many other struggles. But through the power of a praying mother and God’s grace, I made it to where I am today. My journey has been filled with mistakes and obstacles, yet I continue striving, knowing that God’s grace has carried me through. Because of my own experiences, my heart is full of compassion for women who are struggling.

I discovered my purpose while providing beauty services to those in need, homeless individuals and women who have survived trafficking, abuse, and addiction. That’s when I realized my talent wasn’t just meant to provide an income; it was meant to create an impact, make a difference, and fulfill God’s work. This is more than a calling, it’s my ministry.

That’s why I founded the Beauty and Grace Foundation, to spread love and grace, using the gifts God has given me to help restore confidence in those who have lost it. What better way to bless someone than to do so selflessly?

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Navigating the nonprofit world has been a challenge, especially as I work to grow Beauty and Grace Foundation and help others understand the heart behind what I do. But despite the obstacles, this journey has been an incredible blessing. Partnering with amazing organizations and serving those in need has only reinforced my passion and purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I became a cosmetologist because I wanted to make people feel beautiful. Now, after 18 years in this industry, I’ve experienced both the highs and the lows. There have been moments when I wanted t throw in the towel, but then there are moments when a bride sees herself and lights up with joy, tears streaming down her face. Moments when a simple beauty service transforms not just an appearance, but a spirit.

It’s an honor to connect with people in such an emotional and personal way, to exchange stories, and to leave each other changed. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving many incredible clients. Each of them leaving a mark on my heart just as much as I have on theirs.

I truly believe that getting your hair done can be life-changing. It’s more than a service—it’s an opportunity to restore confidence, remind someone of their worth, and help them see the beauty they may have forgotten.

Founding Beauty and Grace Foundation has only deepened this purpose. It has brought even more joy into my life and allowed me to walk fully in my calling using my gifts not just to transform appearances, but to touch lives.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I have a deep love for martial arts and actively practice Jiu-Jitsu and Krav Maga. If I weren’t in the beauty industry, I know I’d be in the fitness and health world helping others build strength, confidence, and resilience from the inside out.
