Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisa Lucía
Elisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up in Costa Rica I was always involved in something artistic, whether that was dancing, drawing, or playing an instrument. I have always had it in my heart that art is what moves me. After graduating high-school, I went to college and studied theatre at the Escuela de Arte Escénico from the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica (UNA) while also studying Collective Communication with an Emphasis on Multimedia and Audiovisual Communication from the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR). In 2022 I decided to move to Los Angeles to continue my studies in acting, which I graduated from in 2023. Currently, I am acting, producing and working as a Casting Assistant and Script Supervisor.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Making a living out of acting alone, especially back home, is nearly impossible. I am grateful for the opportunities that I have gotten and where I am right now, however, it has taken a lot of hard work and sacrifice to do the things that I love in the most fulfilling way possible.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Costa Rican born and raised actress based in LA. I have done acting for both on stage and on camera in different genres and productions. I also have experience as a producer, writer, director, editor, casting assistant and script supervisor. I like to think of myself as a multifaceted artist looking for new challenges.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about Los Angeles is how there’s all kinds of people. It’s a mix of a little bit of everything that humanity has to offer. What I like the least about LA is the lack of affordable housing leading to the rising numbers of people experiencing homelessness across the city.
