Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Dittersdorf.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Elijah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Mom’s Computer came from an observation. I was waiting at the Apple store about five years ago and there was a mature customer that was standing around looking for the cash register. Nobody explains that there really is no more cash register…. That was my first awareness of the need for Mom’s Computer, Technology Care for Adult Learners.
I took all the proper steps, Incorporated, etc. and put out my shingle. The results came in fast and keep coming. We have thrice monthly classes at the LGBT Centers of Los Angeles. We go to individual homes and locations, as well. We have advanced IT care. Our clients are smarter than us, they just don’t know the computer!
So now…
After spending 20 plus years in the field, I help teach/repair adult learners to improve their basic daily computer skills. To watch folks, daily life expand through the easy use of technology is a true gift and necessity of our times.
In my experience embracing technology is a result of reducing vulnerability. When I ask my clients why they waited so long to learn or fix the computer, the answer is usually the same, “I don’t want to bother anybody.” We can help with that by providing a mature teacher that’s more just like a friend.
Whether we serve our clients in a one on home visit, a group class or online, the ability to learn technology is the same. We listen to our client’s concerns, never rush and always count on folks forgetting things and needing a reminder!
At Mom’s Computer, we provide gentle options. If you’d like to learn a specific skill or purchase a computer repair for a friend, you will be able to choose and see your technician on our bio page.
Our references come from our local communities, physicians, clients, retirement communities, and more. If you’re here or even if you’re abroad contact us to get your people on a tech communication schedule for security and the sheer joy of it. It’s a great way to keep watch on your most treasured adults and elders as their need for care moves forward.
Mom’s Computer: We understand technology, but we understand humans even better!
Has it been a smooth road?
The Angels of our City of Angels have been with us from the beginning.
Our problems we’re simply directions we needed to decode and learn from.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mom’s Computer, Inc. story. Tell us more about the business.
Mom’s Computer is the only tech company I know of that focuses on Senior learners. We don’t answer a single question that we don’t realize we will have to answer again, perhaps through the entire relationship. We build in the ability to call your tech and know that it is not a burden. As a matter of fact, we encourage your calls.
What am I most proud of?
My staff. No one does what they do. These are empaths collected from a lifetime of geekdom.
We are set apart from others because we are you.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
1. Devices will be free
3. Wireless connectivity will be national and free.
2. Content will be free
3. Nothing else will be free.
The greatest changes will come from our relationship to the content on the devices. I think we will mature positively in the digital relationship. It’s still all so amazingly new.

If my parents were still alive I would purchase this service for them. It’s like therapy or learning to drive – much better to learn from a professional.

Found Mom’s computer and my life has only improved since that day.
As a man still working and needing to learn digital skills, this was more than a pleasure, it was a necessity

This is wonderful. Do you know what it’s like to know what you want to do and be unable to do it. I called them last year and I can scan and print and all the things I WANT to do, not what someone wants to sell me. Gracias Momtech Cecily!

We used Mom’s Computer for training of new software systems in the aerospace industry in Hawthorne,CA. Many of our long term workers struggle quietly with these transitions. My department identified this productivity issue, hired Mom’s Computer to create a weekend training program for our diverse workforce. Big success. We then hired them for offices in Cleveland, Ohio as well and they had excellent local staff there. Problem solved.

Yesterday Mom’s Computer completed a three day Tech Education Workshop at our yacht club in Newport Beach. Many of our yachters are also Seniors who are enjoying a lifelong passion, through their golden years. These are sharp folks and they needed more than just tech help. They need attention. If they are talking and taking awhile, its because what they are saying matters.
We found Mom’s through yelp. The members are ecstatic and I will be calling Elijah to setup another three days for our famous Newport Christmas Boat Parade.

Such a warm and comforting computer repair outfit this is. Same story, needed a technician for my dad. A smart man, curious and never really happy with his computer. Found Mom’s website on Google and called and nothing but success. Bravo.

Where have you been all my life! I found Mom’s Computer on the web, they had this article on their webpage.
I live in Northeast Ohio and it is hard to get people to come out, especially in this snow. Shayna was there on the first clear day, fixed and taught me everything.
God bless the folks that do this.
