Meet Elaine Chu of East and West Integrative Medicine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elaine Chu.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been interested in alternative medicine. By 2008 I became certified in Integrative Holistic Medicine, Medical Acupuncture and continued to be board certified in Family Medicine. Practicing main stream medicine is hard because we are forced to see lots of patients in a short amount of time because we are not only working for our patients but also the “blue suits” who take a cut of everything we do. Physicians in part work so hard to pay the multiple layers of administrators and for-profit insurance companies. Didn’t seem right.

Finally I quit all that and set up my own holistic medical practice where the focus is on Energy Medicine. I treat patients at their spiritual level which then helps their body and mind heal. Patients feel like themselves again. How many times patients don’t just break down and cry of happiness in my office.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No struggles, community has been supportive.

East and West Integrative Medicine – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Because of my medical training in various specialties, we can offer alternatives where Western medicine has run out of treatment options for people. We can correct your energy and how if flows in your body.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success ultimately am I happy? Is my purpose being fulfilled? Am I contributing to society?
