Today we’d like to introduce you to El Abad.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2015 I became a mom. I always dreamt about the day and couldn’t imagine not having kids, but when it happened my whole world was turned upside down. Being a spontaneous and independent person all my life, the changes that came with motherhood shocked and shook me. Namely, the loss of sense of self and feeling that I needed to give up so much of who I was to be the type of mother I wanted to be, was a hard pill to swallow.
I was with the greatest love of my life, my son, every day, but I felt alone. I was lost. Beyond motherhood, I searched for my purpose. I was forced to walk away from what I thought was my dream job because the environment I was working in wasn’t entirely supportive of what my new life as a mom would be like. As I was discovering the “new” me and working on embracing my motherhood role, I started sharing my journey as a way to connect with other moms in the community. I thought, there had to be more women that felt like I was feeling. And, with that, Land of Mom was born.
Since then, Land of Mom has become much more than just my blog. It is a community. We are called the Happy Mom Tribe. Even though every mom will have her own experience, my mission is to help moms discover, embrace and love who they are so that they are empowered to live their happiest life and enjoy the motherhood journey.
I just hosted the first ever Happy Mom Conference on Sunday, May 6th where millennial mamas gathered to hear from inspirational speakers and expert panelists, participate in workshops, shop, and get a little pampered, too. It was the ultimate self-care experience, where attendees got to work on personal and professional growth.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing good ever comes easy. With my blog, and hosting a conference at the scale of Happy Mom Conference, it was a struggle for sure to do it alongside being a full-time mama to my two little boys (Ryan, 3 Leo 1).
It’s been a constant juggle.. where I spend my evenings writing, responding to emails, and working to be able to be the kind of mother I want to be with the boys in the day.
Although recently with the planning of the conference in the last month, I’ve been away a lot for meetings and walkthrough etc. so it’s nice to be able to breathe a little bit now that the conference has come and gone. I truly missed the day-to-day with my boys. It’s the struggle with all working mamas, I think.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Land of Mom – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Land of Mom is a community for moms that inspires and empowers with content created with the millennial mama in mind. I do my best to be real and raw with my shares so that mothers feel they are not alone in the challenges and triumphs they are faced with on the motherhood journey.
Land of Mom’s millennial mom audience increasingly turns to social media to seek community and advice on motherhood. They love my #MomBossMonday collaborations, my Lately Loving guides to practical, affordable, and stylish products, and my Style & Beauty self-care articles.
I’m most proud of our community. We are called the Happy Mom Tribe and our members support one another on the mom journey.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Yes! Happy Mom Conference 2.0 in 2019! We can’t wait to announce the date and the next lineup of speakers and partners. Plus, I’d love to explore the world of podcasts to be able to connect with happy mamas via this up and coming platform. I think it jives perfectly with how our millennial mama audience is seeking content.
