Meet Edith Quintanilla of Golden State Cleaners in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edith Quintanilla.

Edith, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I would start by saying that I worked as a sales representative for the pickup and delivery department at a local dry cleaners for about twelve years. On 2015, I injured my right Achilles tendon while on duty, I was on disability for three months. Going back to work was not easy since I had been gone for three months and the sales had gone down. I went through a period of bulling and harassment specifically by my immediate manager. After giving it much thought I decided to leave my position with the company,

I took a few weeks off to clear my thoughts. I was offered a position at another local cleaners with the opportunity of building my own route. The owner proposed to me if I brought my own clients we could share a profit, I accepted the deal even though the profit was not an equal share. I took it with the idea that I will have some support from the owner to one day have my own business. After a year with this company I learned other avenues of the business world and I felt prepare to start my own dry clean pickup and delivery business. I was very excited with the new view of being my own boss.

I started gathering all my ideas, tools, and connections to start my new business. I began making flyers, cards, and all the necessary equipment to start my journey.

I hire my first employee and trained him myself to expand the new business. I began to feel the pressure of being an entrepreneur but at the same time it was very exciting.

Now, I would like to share with you how the title and the logo of my company was created. The name was created as Golden state cleaners since I live in the golden state, the logo which is like the wings of an eagle represents how high one could fly if your goal to succeed is very strong. But also the wings are a symbol of my grandmother who passed away a year ago and I feel is my angel watching over me. Lastly I would like to say that after all those long hours of work and sacrifice to become an entrepreneur I feel blessed to be able to serve areas such as Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Hancock Park, Palisades, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Malibu, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana, among other areas in Los Angeles.

I thank God, family, friends and business partners that help me through this exciting and wonderful business journey. This is an ever innovating business and my goal is to be an active participant in my very own creation. My philosophy in life to never, never, never, give up even if at times you lose trust in yourself and be humble.

Has it been a smooth road?
By all means it was not an easy road. Since I left my full time position with the cleaners I worked for twelve years and my relationship with them had come to an end. I found myself jobless. I had to borrow money to friends and family to buy my Van and other equipment need it to start my own business. I also had to sell at times my business ideas for less money than they were worth and even work for no money at all just so I could learn some tips to becoming my own boss.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company is a free pickup and delivery service only. We specialize in same day service. We do regular dry cleaning, wet cleaning, reweaving leather, swede, alterations, shoe repair, also do flat work (sheets, comforters, wedding gowns, and rugs). Edith is the best. I met her when she was with a former company & when she said she was leaving, I said, I am going where you go. Our cleaning is always done very well, she always comes when she says she will & I always deal with her directly, which I very much appreciate. Her employees are as kind & professional as she is & I will never go anywhere else. We need more people like Edith in this world, hard working, kind & caring. She is simply, The Best!!!!
