Meet Edith Jimenez of Califas Vela Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edith Jimenez.

Edith, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been a curious kind of person, which is what lead me to experiment with candles in 2015. To me, a lot of candles were basic in general, I wanted to create something unique, relating to me and my culture.

It honestly took a few tries to get a candle I was happy with. My first candle was hideous, I wanted to quit actually. After realizing I was a human being, some online research, and hands-on practice, I figured out how to make a candle I was happy with.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, but I think that’s what has also made it an exciting one.

I’ve learned so much from not so fun things like permits, to creative fun things like how to photograph my product.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Califas Vela Co. – what should we know?
Califas Vela Co. is a handmade candle company based out of Orange County. All candles are carefully made in small batches using 100% soy wax. We are most admired for our flor de nopal and our cafe de olla scented candles.

We are most proud of providing someone with a good experience or mood. Something that sets us apart is we aren’t targeting a specific gender like some other companies, we want our candles to be enjoyed by everyone.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Family, friends, and followers have all played a big role by continued support throughout the years.
