Today we’d like to introduce you to Eden Ruimy.
Hi Eden, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been working in the development and remodeling industry for a little over a year now. My parents opened Champion Remodeling about 34 years ago. Since then, my dad really turned this company into something special by building apartment complexes, multimillion dollar homes, and beautiful kitchens and bathrooms, so people can love and enjoy their living space. When COVID led to a shutdown in early March of last year, I was unexpectedly laid off from my own job in healthcare. This was the perfect opportunity for my dad to show me the ropes of the home development and remodeling industry. I began working with him, shadowing him, and learning the ins and outs of the business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In December, my dad got sick with COVID. He fought hard for a little over a month but on January 16th, I lost my dad. Two weeks later, I walked into his office with my mom and sisters by my side and decided I’d work hard to keep the business growing. At the beginning of this new journey for me, of course it was difficult. There were things my dad taught me in the past year but there was still so much to learn. In this type of industry, it takes time to build relationships with clients and my dad was already an established contractor who knew how to make his clients happy. Now that he’s gone, I have taken all that I have learned to run this business independently to find clients of my own and make sure jobs go as smoothly as they used to with my dad’s high standards. I love my job because each day, I am able to bring someone’s dream home to life.
