Meet Ebony Joyce of Next Level Career Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Joyce.

Ebony, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Let me confess… I never wanted to be an entrepreneur. I enjoyed the stability of Corporate America until it was no longer stable. I spent 13 years working for Fortune 500/100 companies in Global Supply Chain. One could say I was climbing the corporate ladder and doing very well. I started creating resumes around 2006. I had always been able to acquire a new job with no problem. My friends and family would ask me how I was able to remain gainfully employed and switch employers so frequently. I started helping my friends and family gain employment by crafting their resumes, interview preparation and even salary negotiations. However, in 2006 I still didn’t know that I had a service that others would be willing to pay for nor did I have the technical ability to expand my client base.

I got laid off in 2015. Luckily, for me a months before that I was approached by a colleague from my MBA program to start a staffing firm specifically for military veterans. While working in the staffing industry, I worked with both candidates and hiring managers. I made it my mission to truly understand the needs of both clients and candidates. Later on, I dissolved my part of the business, but I had been bitten by the entrepreneur bug so in 2017 I built my company, Next Level Career Services.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth? Not necessarily, but this isn’t the first business I’ve started so I knew coming in what to expect and some issues that I may experience. With any new business there’s growth and you learn as you go. My greatest struggle was expanding my client base. I had to step outside of my comfort zone and utilize social media to my advantage. I utilized LinkedIn to connect with clients and provide them with valuable information as the industry is constantly evolving.

I’m continuously making enhancements to the brand, website, and processes to provide a better experience for my team and my clients. Additionally, I aligned myself with other industry leaders and completed numerous training and certification courses. I have a thirst for information so I’m forever expanding my knowledge to shorten my learning curve.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Next Level Career Services – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a resume writer, speaker and credentialed career and interview coach who provides the full suite of career-related services including job-search strategy, personality assessments, career marketing documents, and support with career and interview coaching. In addition, we offer outplacement, HR consulting services, career workshops, and seminars.

I am most proud of the people I’ve helped to educate and empower. The best feeling is when my clients contact me telling me they got an interview, new position or a salary increase. I founded the organization in 2017 with a singular mission: to help professionals design and achieve the next steps in their career through education, guidance, and encouragement. I love the moment when you notice that your clients have been empowered. Those moments where they demonstrate that they are confident and ready to become their own career advocate. Over 80% of my clients land new roles within 90 days. As a result of my client success-rate, more than 50% of my clients are referrals.

One thing that sets me apart is that my expertise stems from my own career challenges. My learning is from real world experiences. I’ve been unemployed, underemployed and unhappily employed as well as a former recruiting company co-owner. When I partner with a client, I tell them we’re going to really focus on them and uncovering what they want to do and what they want for their lives. I utilize tools and resources to help my clients gain clarity so they can get to the next level in their careers. We identify the value they bring to their roles, work on owning that, and determine how to leverage it in their career.

I differentiate myself from other coaches by offering the following:
• Due to my personal experience, I am able to understand each client’s situation and help them identify solutions.
• Each client has a customized career program
• Professional guidance and accountability is given to each client to help them achieve their goals.
• Coaching takes place either in person, by phone or via Skype.
• Coaching is offering in either Individual and group setting for personal and professional development.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future include teaching career ownership and development workshops to college and universities, military bases, and local government organizations. I’m also launching new services to meet my clients request , however  ensure that my clients continue to receive A-1 service I’m expanding my team. We have big plans in the pipeline and can’t wait to help our clients reach greater  career heights!
