Meet Dylan Nash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Nash.

Dylan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I picked up the guitar as soon as I started high school and quickly became completely obsessed with music and how to write and record it. Instead of partying in my teens, I basically stayed home and watched a lot of “how to produce” YouTube videos, so that I could record the bands I was playing guitar and singing in at the time. It was all I wanted to do. After high school, a band I was playing in started to do pretty well in the Australian pop/rock scene and because I produced our music, I became “the guy” who worked with all the other bands we’d tour with. It wasn’t long before I realized that I much preferred the initial creative aspect of music to live performance, and decided to step away from those projects to fully dedicate myself to producing and writing with as many different artists as I could. This was a big turning point for me and collaborating with so many new musicians only grew my love for songwriting and expanded my production skills. Since then, it’s been a rollercoaster and I haven’t looked back!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s definitely been some ups and downs, as seems to be the case with most creative and entrepreneurial endeavours. It can be financially straining and mentally draining but going through these experiences makes the “highs” even “higher” and has helped me to learn a lot about myself, what I can handle and what I can accomplish. I guess what they say is true, nothing worth having comes easily.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a songwriter, producer, and mixer of music for artists and other songwriters.

I guess what sets me apart is being extremely reliable and dependable, even when there’s a crazy deadline or I’m juggling a million things at once. One of the best bits of advice I was ever given was to “do the things that no one else will do”. I think this has been a big differentiator and a large part of my journey thus far.

I’m known for identifying extremely talented undiscovered artists and then helping them to create their unique voice and “sound.” Being the “extra person on the team” is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do, and I try to be as useful as possible to who I’m working with. Whether it’s helping write a song, connecting them with other people to collaborate or simply being there to support and encourage when times are tough.

This year (2019) I was involved in the ARIA “Album of the Year”- Dean Lewis’ “A Place We Knew”, which is pretty surreal as it was something I never thought would be possible.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment so far has been the release of Eluera’s newest single, “Good When We Fight”. We’ve been working on music for the past two years together and she’s basically become my little sister, so it was a really amazing moment for us both when the first song came out in late 2019.
