Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Theresa Bullard.
Dr. Theresa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As I look back, my entire life has culminated to the purpose and path I am now on. While I was in the process of getting my Ph.D. in physics, I found myself feeling rather out of balance after doing 80 hrs. a week of research, study, and classes. After about a year of this routine, I was feeling depleted, which grew into a feeling dissatisfaction with life. I really started to question why I was doing what I was doing and whether it was worth it. I realized I needed to prioritized my well being again and find what would help me feel better again.
I knew I previously had a sense of balance, meaning, and purpose in life, but after the first year of my Ph.D. studies, it was missing. That put me on a search to find what exactly was missing that was the key to my happiness. I systematically added back in all the things that you’d commonly think would give you a sense of balance: more social time, fitness, creative expression, fun hobbies, etc. After about a year of incorporating more balanced routine things were better, but still not great. Even though I was feeling more balanced, something still felt like it was missing that was the key to my sense of purpose, meaning, and joy.
Then one day, as I was contemplating this while at the gym, a light turns on in my mind. I heard an inner voice that said, “there is still one thing that you haven’t been brought back in.” That one thing was spirituality. It is true that I hadn’t brought it back in, because by that time I was so indoctrinated by the scientific way of thinking that I didn’t think it was so important. But it was the only thing I’d had previously that I hadn’t yet brought back in, so I give attention to developing a spiritual dimension in my life.
At that point, I knew that anything I was going to subscribe to spiritually had to complement or at least not negate what I knew to be true scientifically. So I started to delve into the intersections of quantum physics and Eastern philosophies, as well as Science and Consciousness. As I did, it woke up my passion again and I was reminded of why I started on my journey with physics in the first place. I remembered that it was my question about the greater universe that led me into science.
I found myself about a year later, feeling like the emerging ideas of Science and Spirituality resonated. Although, I also felt as though it was all very conceptual and it didn’t offer anything applicable or practical. I realized that I needed to find a spiritual practice that was more than conceptual. I started to do more research on something that could substantiate what I was finding through research and yet still give me the feeling of connection I was seeking.
I soon found my way to the Hermetic and Alchemical teachings of the ancient mystery schools. To my surprise, I found out that most of modern science was founded from alchemists hundreds of years ago. Alchemy is where science originated. This opened the door for me to unify science and spirituality at a much deeper level that could also be applied. It showed me that this is what would help us reunite with the spiritual and practical teachings. The Hermetic principles supported this way of thinking as well.
Through a series of synchronicities, I was then led to connecting with the Modern Mystery School. I received the Life Activation and then shortly after did the Empower Thyself Initiation. While I went into the healings and classes with a degree of skepticism, I immediately started to notice a rapid acceleration of my life and personal progress. I was really surprised because the shifts were so clear. I had more self-awareness, more clarity, greater sense of direction in life, ability to maintain more balance, and I was able to handle challenges with a greater equanimity through the different practices taught by the Modern Mystery School.
The tools were founded from a lineage that spans back thousands of years. Over time I found that how these tools worked regardless of our belief systems, who we are, and what our experiences were. I saw it work for myself and others that were using them. I really got perspective on the power of these tools as I became a teacher to hand down the activations and practices.
I was giving the activations on the side, while still in the process of getting my Ph.D., and I began receiving positive feedback from those I gave activations to. It was empowering for me to feel the positive impact that I was having on people’s lives. I started to get a lot of joy from empowering others in their lives through the use of these tools. Eventually, I went on to become a Guide and teacher of Universal Hermetic Kabbalah, where we work with the non-dogmatic and universal teachings of Kabbalah. These teachings show us how we can apply them to harness our energy, transform our lives, and to learn to accelerate our progression toward reaching our greater purpose and potential.
I was walking the two paths at the same time, I was doing physics on one side, and on the other, I was actively doing healings and sharing these tools of empowerment. I was also training people in the ancient mystery school practices and metaphysical teachings. After doing this for a few years, I wanted to find a way to bridge science and spirituality. I knew it wasn’t going to be in the systems available at the time.
After completing my Ph.D. in physics, I decided to walk a different path than that of a traditional scientist; I decided to follow my heart and focus on becoming an international instructor for the Modern Mystery School. And since then I have taught around the U.S., Japan, UK, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, and Canada. I really love it and thrive in this work. It feels like I got a Ph.D. (in metaphysics) through dedication and learning I’ve been through. Time after time I’ve seen how these tools increase the quality of people’s lives, inside and out.
In the past couple of years, I’ve taken further steps to draw upon my experience with the Mystery School and weave that together with my background in science, to show how the two can be merged. All of this has been brought into the Mystery Teachings series on Gaia TV [www.MysteryTeachings.com]. I bridge physics and metaphysics from a grounded perspective to show how these two fields complement each other and offer us greater insight into the potential we have as humans, who we are, and how we can achieve greater mastery in our lives. The Mystery Teachings series takes these advanced concepts and distills them down into a form that anyone can understand and put into practical application to improve their lives.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I think that with any transformational journey there are going to be bumps along the way. Those challenges cause us to go deep to really see where our strengths and weaknesses are. They help us transform. Saying yes to an accelerated process has caused more to come up for me. Every year I would say to myself, “I’ve reached my max of what I can take on.” Then what was fascinating was that just as I felt I’d reached that limit, then the next year my capacity would increase and I could do more. My path with the Modern Mystery School really stretched me and I realized that there are no limits except the ones we impose upon ourselves through our beliefs, attachments, and opinions.
I realized that the limits were all in my mind. I was then able to get past how I thought everything had to get done. Through the process of spiritual alchemy and transformation, I stretched my capacity to handle more, do more, and bounce back faster. It really helped me to cultivate resilience. With each step of initiation within the Modern Mystery School, it would catalyze my growth and 10x my capacity to flow more and focus more.
At the end of the day, we have to reassess our limits, our mindset, our perspective, our strengths and weaknesses to really know where we need to be strengthened. We reach those big leaps when we’re being asked to take steps beyond our previous limits. And it’s common in those times to be faced with doubt or self-judgment or questions like, “Who am I to do this?”.
I also had a fear of losing credibility in the science community if they found out I was doing all this spiritual and metaphysical work. My big process was overcoming that fear, and how others might judge me. It was about saying YES to my own convictions and soul-calling, regardless of what others thought. I had to really work along the way to let go of these fears and attachments. It was 100% my training through the Mystery School, Universal Hermetic Kabbalah, and the Alchemical teachings that really empowered and guided me breakthrough and be able to serve in the capacity that I do today. I went from being “in the closet” about my spiritual beliefs to now being someone that teaches on these subjects very openly on TV, radio, and teaching worldwide.
Another thing that was a big struggle along the way was learning to believe. My education taught me to poke holes, be skeptical, and doubt things. I also was overcoming insecurities. Despite having a connection to my intuition and maintaining an appreciation of the arts. I struggled with learning to suspend my doubt, maintaining my discernment, while also believing in the magic of life again. I had to open back up to the magic in life and all the things that science cannot explain.
I was originally trained to think that “seeing is believing”, but through my path, I came to realize it is the other way around; it’s “believing is seeing”, which is a mindset that allows us to perceive beyond our five physical senses and start tapping into our spiritual senses. I had to take leaps of faith and believe, even if I didn’t know how things worked. This was an opportunity to empty my cup to allow for infinite possibilities. At the same time, it’s important to be discerning, and the best way to discern is by looking at the fruits/results that that are created in our lives. I wanted something that would produce results in an ongoing and sustainable way.
Seeing results regularly is something that is hard to deny. I started to notice the results I experienced were at first subtle shifts that I felt on the inner plane: clarity of thought, stronger intuition, reawakening of greater creative capacity, more balance in life, more energy, more joy, greater insight into how things work, actual increasing of my abundance, and greater foresight. Because of these shifts, I started to make new decisions in my life. I redirected my focus and those choices really started to pay off with outer results. In the long run, they really positively impacted my ability to handle challenging times when they came.
Today I can truly say I’m living a magical life! It’s exciting, it’s not Harry Potter magic it’s real magick. I experience miracles regularly. Outside the regular confines of the “Matrix” way of life is where magic happens. The Mystery School path is a system of progression for people to help us create breakthroughs even when we get in our own way. I have found that it helps my progression even when I resist it. By now I’ve learned to really open up and trust in the universe and its flow, even when things don’t go the way that I thought that they would go. By now I’ve really learned to quickly adapt when a change occurs. Also, to really enjoy and work with the changes proactively, rather than fighting it.

I specialize in bridging science and spirituality. Specifically through ancient Mystery School teachings, showing how the ancient teachings create a universal picture that matches up with modern science. This is what my show Mystery Teachings on Gaia TV focuses on. Not only do I deliver advanced concepts, I do it in a way that others can understand clearly while weaving a story that applies directly to our lives and potential. I also take these deep spiritual concepts and ground it into earth. I give lots of tools and share information that helps us understand ourselves.
I make it very practical so that people can apply the teachings and experience it rather just think about them. It’s very rare for people to get these teachings unless they’ve been initiated in the Mystery School lineage. I have great gratitude to the lineage holders of the Modern Mystery School for supporting the sharing of this information in a TV show.
Traditionally the teachings are more powerful in person and are verbally passed down because most of what we teach has to do with energy. What sets the Modern Mystery School apart is that it has true lineage. True lineage can only be experienced through physical initiation and is something that the Modern Mystery School offers all around the world. In my 19 years of working with them, I have tested the teachings, dug in, and questioned. There is not a doubt in my mind that it is an ancient mystery school. It’s one thing to have knowledge, and it’s another to have understanding, and the only way to get there is through application and practice. It requires us to be practical and use the tools. The path of initiation is a very tried and true path, to get us the fastest and cleanest results.
What sets me apart personally is my years of focus and experience. I have worked with people of different cultures, backgrounds, and ages. This has helped me develop a wealth of information to really support people from diverse fields. I work directly with people that influence others. My time is limited for in-person work, so I like to work with people who feel called to the Mystery School path as a whole, or others that influence through their work in other ways such as CEO’s, people in entertainment, entrepreneurs, and artists. I also consult and train people who are bringing new paradigm solutions into the world to make it a better place.
On a quarterly basis, I offer the Empower Thyself training and initiation in LA. Typically in January, March, August, and October. Then on a yearly basis, I offer a power week which is coming up October 2020. The prerequisite for initiation is the Life Activation which is a 1-on-1 session that gets you plugged into your greater potential and starts the engine revving, so to speak. This will help to awaken dormant gifts and integrate shifts to embody more of your purpose and higher potential.
My time to work with 1-on-1 clients is limited due to my international teaching schedule. However, there is a good network of qualified practitioners around the world. I’m always open to referring to other practitioners that are more available and charge less than I do for my time.
If you had to start over, what would you have done differently?
There is not much that I would have done differently. Other than comparing myself to how I thought things “should” be done. We in our modern world tend to have ideas of what we “should” be doing to be “successful”. I held myself to that standard for a very long time. I realize that in retrospect that I couldn’t have done things any faster. Certain things had to come into play. I also would’ve been more understanding and compassionate with myself. I would’ve given myself more permission to truly be myself at an earlier stage in my journey.
It was a process I had to go through. I would’ve made my inner life a little easier by letting go of comparison and judgment. I probably would’ve explored more as well. I thought I had to know everything and have it all planned out. I didn’t give myself enough permission to just explore and enjoy the adventure until much later. That’s probably the one thing I would’ve changed. Although, I have no regrets and I’m very happy and grateful about where I am at and where I am going. I tend not to look back, and I’m excited about what’s ahead.
