Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Sebastian Kverneland DC.
Dr. Sebastian , please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in Stavanger, Norway and come from a family with a high prevalence of engineers. After high school, I found myself wondering what path to take, I had a passion for physics and science in general. Engineering was definitely an option, but I was also very good at sports. I was a promising soccer player and that exposed me to the science of proper training and rehab. I started leaning towards the chiropractic profession and finally decided that it was the ultimate match for my passion and interests. As a chiropractor, you look at the biomechanics of the body and identify the faulty movement patterns, and then address those. Which is ironically very similar to the job of many engineers.
Has it been a smooth road?
After I graduated in 2014 from Southern California University of Health Sciences with my doctorate, I left the USA and went to work in Germany. Things are very different over there, and I had to adapt quickly. Although the language and methods were different, I soon gained popularity among the patients and after 3-4 months I was fully booked. I love helping people. My father always said that the work you do will have your name on it, it reflects your integrity. I have very much respect for the patients I get, I’m honored they come to see me, it is therefore very important to me be worth their time and to do a quality job.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Now that I’m back in the US, I’m excited to start up my own practice, Scandinavian Health Institute.
I am a firm believer in a comprehensive and personal approach and use an evidenced-based and modern type Chiropractic care. Being pro-collaboration, I work with other healthcare professions as I am determined to help people find the root cause of their pain.
My specialty is headaches, neck and back pain. I am working hard to build a network with the best medical doctors, physical therapists, yoga instructors, acupuncturists, personal trainers and more. Cross-collaboration will aid patients and be in the best interests of society.
