Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Nakita Davis.
Hi Dr. Davis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved to read and write. Since I was a little kid, I remember sneaking under the covers with a flashlight to read one more chapter after my mother told me “lights out.” I also remember going to the local Starbucks or Barnes and Noble to read books, grab a latte and write in my journal. So when I think about where I am today and who God positioned me to be as an Award-Winning Publisher; (recently named the 2021 Publisher Boss of the Year) it all makes sense. I am right where I’m supposed to be and I love it!
Now the reality check; like most working adults, I didn’t skip the 9-5 to follow my dreams. However, over time, I believe, God slowly helped me revisit my passion by giving me the peace and space to write with the birth of my 1st son. (2nd child)
When my husband and I became pregnant with our son, I always knew that I would take a year away from work this time. This was the opposite of what I had done with my daughter. I wanted to stop and smell the roses after working so hard in corporate America. When I did that; not only did God bless us with a happy healthy baby boy, but He gave me back the peace, time, and space to revisit the dreams and desires of my youth.
I became a 1st-time author and shortly after orchestrating my own book tour began helping other Women to write, market, and sell their best-selling books too.
This was never my plan, but I believe it was always God’s plan.
My gift made room for me and began to morph into an Internationally known empire right before my eyes with 3 locations- Atlanta, Miami, and now Beverly Hills 90210!
I feel immensely blessed to help Women of Faith to write, publish, and successfully market their Best-Selling books in 90days or less.
Add in robust PR networking with growing connections and Jesus Coffee and Prayer Christian Publishing House is becoming a household name! I am humbled by it all.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The decision to pursue my calling was easy- just like the decision to do the right thing. However; any business owner will tell you this journey is NOT for the faint at heart.
There are spectacular days as a full-time CEO and not-so-great times too, but I won’t complain.
The biggest challenge that I endured, like most new business owners, was garnering the right support.
It takes a moment to understand the real difference between your friends/family support and the support of your real target customers. They are not the same.
Overcoming mental hang-ups is the biggest key to any entrepreneur’s success or failure. Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” This statement is 100% true.
I am so glad that I did not allow anyone or anything to stop me from following through on my Big-God-Sized Dreams of full-time entrepreneurship. I learned a long-time ago that you cannot expect others to see the vision that God gave you. So keep dreaming Big and Believe even Bigger.
