Meet Dr. Celeste Hamilton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Celeste Hamilton.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Celeste. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I help stressed-out, high-achieving women, discover the benefits of putting their health and themselves first, so they can feel energized and start loving life again!

There was a point in my life when I didn’t put myself or my health first and I suffered for it.

I let my job “own” me and kept making excuses for a marriage which I knew deep down wasn’t serving me. As a result, I had persistent stomach aches, anxiety, psoriasis and disturbed sleep.

While I continued to be highly successful and receive praise for all of my accomplishments, I was drained physically, mentally and emotionally and had lost touch with who I was and what I really wanted in life.

Fast forward to today….

I have transformed my own health and happiness, and have redefined my version of success by taking care of myself first.

The result? I feel like myself again and can honestly say I am building a life I love!

I believe the biggest way we can contribute in this lifetime is to become the best version of ourselves, so we have more to offer others.

I am passionate about helping women rediscover how to take care of themselves on all levels so they can feel amazing and make the impact they desire to make in this world.

Has it been a smooth road?
Life hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for me, but I love who I’ve become because of it.

When I was 16 my mom died of ovarian cancer. It was pretty sudden. One day she was fine and within less than a year later, the person who had loved me unconditionally and taken care of everything I needed in life wasn’t around anymore. She was only 45 years old when she passed.

My world changed that day that my family and I sat with her in the hospital room and watched her take her last breath. To speak frankly, my life was a complete blank for at least a year or two. I have no recollection of what I did day today, but I somehow existed and pushed through.

As time passed I got more accustomed to her not being around, I thought I had “handled” the experience more or less. I continued with my schooling and earned a Bachelor’s degree, a Masters and a Ph.D. I spent years focusing on my career, always pushing myself to achieve the next milestone, but it was all a distraction. I constantly filled up my time with “to-dos” to help me avoid feeling the pain of her loss. I even went to some extremes trying to overly control things including battling a stint of anorexia to the point that I needed to be hospitalized. But I pulled through that in a relatively short time and I started working through my grief with help from various counselors. It took me years to fully work through my pain and come to the other side to realize that if we transform our pain we can help others do the same.

I eventually landed my “dream job” in biotech shortly after completing my graduate studies. I got married and was soon pregnant with my son. I had the job, the man, the family. From the outside it looked like I “had it all” but I still wasn’t happy nor fulfilled, and I noticed worrisome changes in my health. I was experiencing frequent stomach aches, chest pain, anxiety, psoriasis and sleep disturbances. I was totally maxed out and felt overwhelmed with everything related to life. I was riding an emotional rollercoaster that affected my relationships with others but also with myself.

That’s when I knew that I had to make a change.

I realized (and it was hard to admit), that I was so committed to my success and advancements that I didn’t take great care of me. Ouch. Talk about a wake-up call. I had experienced first hand how short life could be losing my mother and I was still pushing the envelope. That’s when I reached out to get more support and started down my own path to finding balance and wellness.

My new path started with getting a divorce. It was the hardest thing but also the best thing I did in retrospect. I actually moved to the US from Canada when I was seven months pregnant, started a new job, got divorced and had a baby all in the span of a year. Because I was away from my family and friends I was forced to create new support networks and try strategies I hadn’t tried before to cope with all of the change. Remarkably I had never felt better. I was growing into a person that felt more like myself and I realized that if I could do it, I could also help others transform their lives also – so I completed a certification as a Holistic Health Coach. I just knew that I felt called to help other women get out of the trap of exhaustion, burnout and unhappiness that I had been living in and www.drcelestehamilton.com was born!

I still have my corporate job, I’m a Global Medical Director for a large biotech company, which I love, but my purpose in this life is to help women rediscover how to take care of themselves on all levels. I want every woman to feel empowered to take charge of her own health and happiness. And by health, I mean all aspects including: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

My mother’s life and death taught me much about myself, my passion to help others, and how to achieve balance and happiness in life. It is my honor to now impart that knowledge to other high-achieving women.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I am a Health and Wellness Expert, who specializes in writing, speaking, coaching, mentorship, and online courses. I believe the biggest way we can contribute in this lifetime is by becoming the best version of ourselves, so we have more to offer others.

I’m super passionate about helping high-achieving women regain balance and find more fulfillment, connection and passion in life. You know…those rockstar women who are so good at what they do, and they tend to help everyone else while putting their own health & wellness on the back burner? I help them to re-discover the benefits of putting their health and themselves first so they can feel energized and start loving life again!

What sets me apart from others in this industry is two things. First, the fact that I have a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology which gives me specialized knowledge about the body on all levels. Second, the fact that I still work a full-time demanding corporate job in addition to running my health & wellness business. Since I’m still living and breathing the challenges of finding balance in my own day-to-day I can really relate to the clients that I work with. Essentially I was my own ideal client just a few years ago!

My wellness business is something I do on the side because I’m truly passionate about sharing the success strategies and tips I’ve learned over the years for myself with other women so they can thrive too!

There are three ways women can work with me.

First, I have a FREE five-day mindset challenge called Exhausted to Excited for high achieving women who want to shift their thinking and create the space they need to feel like anything’s possible again! It’s for women who are ready to ditch exhaustion and take their first steps towards:

– Feeling supported, connected & fulfilled.

– Finding balance amongst the chaos.

– Creating a safe space to do what matters.

- Being EXCITED about life again.

Here’s what women are saying about it:

Your sister is so cool – she seems like a very “together” person! I struggle with indecisiveness and perfectionism and haven’t done any of these wellness courses/workshops ever – so I am ENJOYING this!

– Sarah P.

I’m in the midst of changing careers which have left me feeling anxious and somewhat unproductive. Today I made a decision to “map” out my passions. I’m very visual in processing. This is helping me stay the course to follow my heart’s desires. Because of this decision, I now have a clear direction. Great first day of the challenge – thank you Celeste!!!

– Beverly L.

The day 3 video really resonated with me. The whole “I’m so busy” thing is definitely a badge of honor in academia and it almost feels like a contest of who is the most burnt out/hardcore. This is clearly exhausting!… I now know I am not weak/lame for not wanting to torture myself anymore.

– Alicia V.

I think today’s been THE DAY for me. The mantra really hit home and the exercise really brought some focus. I work with my special needs children on the power their words can have on others and the power words can have on them. I missed how much the power of my own words can have over me! Wow, powerful – thank you!

– Rebecca M.

Second, I created a special four-week program called Burnout to Balance because tons of awesome high-achieving women reached out to me and asked me “Teach me how to find balance in life, pleeeease!” I listened, I got into action, and this program is a compilation of all of my best tips and strategies that I use in my day-to-day to keep my sanity as I juggle corporate life, a side business and raising a child as a single parent. In the program women will:

– Learn how to slow down and get off autopilot.

– Discover how to make more time happen.

– Experience the power of boundaries & which ones to set ASAP.

– Unlock the secret code to generating consistent energy so they can do the things that light them up in life!

Here’s what women are saying about it:

I was stuck on a treadmill, lost in my todo lists feeling frustrated in every aspect of my life. This course helped me to look inwardly and make adjustments, simple ones at first (e.g breathing) and then I stopped making excuses and started making plans…I started yoga, reached out to girlfriends, turned off my phone and simply said NO WITHOUT JUSTIFICATION. I’ve always been good at setting boundaries but always felt I had to offer a reason…now I just say ‘I’m sorry I don’t think I can make that work… rarely to people ask why not? The change that resulted from this program… I feel lighter, back in control of my life and I have tools to help when life gets tough (like the brain dump).

– Katie L.

I was at the tail end of my worst relapse of depression in more than a decade when this program began. I was burned out at my job and overwhelmed with trying to keep up the front of having it all together at home and work. This program helped me work through some of the feelings I was having and forced me to consider questions about what is important to me (i.e. the “absolute no” list/thinking about what brings me joy). Altogether the program let me see that it is okay to make some changes/ease up on myself and that making these positive changes is not a sign of weakness but rather the opposite.

– Alicia V.

I was in serious stress mode when I started this program, finding myself in the middle of making some big life decisions. The course allowed me time to reflect on some things in a way that I might not otherwise do (what makes me happy, what do I need, etc.) and the motivation to try out some new tools, such as meditation. As a result, although there are still a lot of unknowns in my career and my life over the next few months (I’m still in the process of securing a new job, though I at least narrowed it down to two options now. I’m in the process of moving, though don’t know exactly when…), I feel I’m handling the uncertainty and stress much more calmly and I’m less irritable. I’ve also started saying “no” – to work functions, to new projects, to social events – and I’ve been amazed at how little resistance I’m getting to this new assertiveness! Again, it is perhaps a silly realization but not agreeing to that event/project/commitment hasn’t been the end of the world… life just goes on, and I feel way better about my choices.

Finally, I also recently started offering 1:1 coaching for women who are looking for a deeper level of support. Email me directly for more info on that as space is limited: [email protected]
