Meet Downtown LA Photographer: Curtis Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Curtis Moore.

Curtis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I became interested in photography while I was a college student at CSUSB. I was studying business at the time. Five classes away from graduating, I decided to take a photography class and fell in love with it. The next thing I know, I changed my major and spent an extra two years in college and the rest is history. I now own my own fashion showroom/photo studio in downtown LA with two other designers. Some notable clients and credits include L.A.Sparks, America’s Next Top Model winner Naima Mora, Christina Milian, Beyonce Dancer Kim Gringas, MiMi G, Simplicity, and Singer Terry Dexter to name a few.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been as smooth as I would have liked it to be. But what it? In this industry, I found that a lot of people like to use you for your services and throw the term out exposure in order to doge paying you for what you are worth. With money not rolling in from following my dreams like I thought it would, I had to work a warehouse job to maintain the pursuit of making my dreams a reality.

What’s the hardest part of your job?
I would say the hardest part of my job is to continually post to social media, I’m not very big on social media so I tend to shy away from it at times. I’m forcing myself to post more often and promote my business more often.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by being happy in my own skin and my abilities to do the very thing I love to do for a living. I would love to get to a point where people are knocking down my door to shoot with me.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan on expanding by looking for more space in my fashion showroom/photo studio. With more space, I would love to offer mentoring to others and even conduct different workshops of my own.
