Meet Downtown LA Makeup Artist: Megan Hunt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Hunt.

Megan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I first discovered my interest in makeup as a young child doing theatre and dance and found myself always loving getting everyone ready for performance. From doing my fellow dancemates glam before a game performance or drawing in more defined wrinkles on the actor playing Santa in our local city play– I loved it!

I moved to Los Angeles and after being involved in several areas of the entertainment industry from Producing to tour managing to working as a talent agent for dancers and choreographers… I eventually found myself honing back in on a childhood passion of mine — makeup!

Has it been a smooth road?
The only struggle has been stepping out from my other career roles to develop an artistic outlet that I have always been drawn to. The financial and professional risk is always scary but I believe if you do something you love, you will always be successful.

Have you ever felt like giving up?
The most difficult moment was deciding to leave a full-time job to pursue a career as a makeup artist in Los Angeles. Stepping out of your comfort zone to chase a passion is risky and scary especially in a city that is full of talent and competition. it takes some time to build up relationships and connections but once I was able to fully focus on something I loved it paid off!

What advice do you wish to give to those thinking about pursuing a path similar to yours?
I would tell people to keep going and really try to engulf yourself in the whole industry as much as possible. Never stop learning and perfecting your craft!

What are you most excited about these days?
I look forward to more opportunities that allow me to travel and work with more amazing artist and clients!
