Don and Shaun, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started in the RV storage business in Simi Valley where we built a 12-acre storage facility from the ground up in 2010 (All Valley’s RV Storage). We recognized the opportunity to rent RV’s and in 2011 we started renting RV’s from our lot in Simi Valley. In 2012 we purchased a company that was delivering travel trailers to the beaches in Santa Barbara and renamed it 101 RV Rentals. For the next two years, both businesses were expanded to the point where we felt we only had the resources to move forward with one of them. In 2014 we shut down the business that rented RV’s and kept the travel trailer delivery business – 101 RV Rentals. We have been operating 101 RV Rentals since 2012. This travel trailer delivery business is great for people who don’t own an RV and want to enjoy the camping experience. It works like this: The renter gets a camping site and one of five campgrounds we deliver too. Carpinteria, Refugio, El Capitan, Gaviota and Ocean Mesa.
Next, the renter contacts 101 RV Rentals and rents a trailer which we deliver and pick up. The trailers come with the basics you need in the kitchen. Pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, toaster, glasses, cups etc for four people. The renter brings their own bedding and food. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been smooth primarily because we had the experience to manage/run the business and the facilities necessary to store and maintain the rental fleet.
We have had the same employees since 2012, so everyone has had the training and experience to get their jobs done efficiently.

101 RV Rentals allows families to enjoy the camping experience at the beach even if they don’t own an RV. Renting from 101 RV Rentals is easy. First, the renter contacts reservecalifornia.com to rent a site at one of the 4 state parks we service or they can contact oceanmesa.com the private RV Resort we service. The renter must get the site for a minimum of 3 nights. The next step is to visit the 101rvrentals website and request a quote for a trailer to be delivered.
Our goal is to make renters enjoy their stay and come back year after year. We also want them to tell all their friends about the great experience they had when doing business with 101 RV Rentals. We have four different floor plans to accommodate different family sizes and groups. Our trailers are late model units that we order custom from the manufacturer to meet the needs of our state park customers. Many of the sites we deliver to are dry campsites. The trailers are equipped with, solar panels, generators, and oversized holding tanks. All of these things lead to a satisfied and happy camper!
We are known for delivering clean, ready to camp trailers on time! We service a whole bunch of satisfied customers every year. Many of our customers rent every year and a few rents 3 or 4 times every year.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If we had to start over we would have started with only the trailer delivery business. We like this rental model because we do all the hard work. When the renter gets to the beach everything is set up and ready for the renter. They don’t have to drive to a rental company hook up the trailer and tow it to their destination. We do it all.
