Meet Dominic Lindia of Rosemead Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Lindia.

Hi Dominic, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hailing from an Italian family located out of Calgary, Alberta in Canada, the art of film and abundant jobs in the field were very niche and hard to come by to say the least. It was around age 2 that I picked up my first camera and as far back as my mind recollects, it was the primary thing that I was always interested in no matter the time or place. It was December of 2014 that I decided that I was indeed a film director and since then, I’ve never looked back on that decision (nor will I ever).

I heavily got started on my first feature film in early 2020 (on the advice of a co-worker at my then job who stated that people failed as directors simply because they didn’t start making their own visions happen early enough). Safe to say, he was correct. The film “The Heartfelt & Soulless: A Rock Opera” was a two-year journey filled with self-funded learning, failure, personal catharsis, lifelong friendships, mistakes and ultimately a film that provided a strong debut for my career. The film opened to a full house at the Canyon Meadows cinema on August 26, 2021.

As my story comes closer to present day, it’s fair to assume based on the patterns in my career so far that one only finds growth in their work by being uncomfortable. The state of comfort is where ambition goes to die. Through this idea, I expanded my arsenal and was contracted to shoot a string of hip-hop music videos. The first of which is nearing 50K views over the course of several months. This shift in creative direction lead me to Europe for work and proved a beneficial Segway into new networking opportunities and views on the world.

More recently though, I have completed my latest feature, “Abbotsford Creek” Starting Sachin Sinnathamby and Ethan Tse, short film “Words from the Book of Dante” starring Victor Okyei and Ray Dhaliwal and a television pilot that I was lucky enough to produce along with fellow Canadian creators who also work in Los Angeles, Liam Purcell, Daniel Rubert and Aaron Belot.

The transition from Canada to Los Angeles and the surrounding areas for the sake of my craft was never one I took as an outlet to simply relax. Since moving out from Canada, the connections I’ve found and developed have lead me to only positive experiences and thus, helped reinforce the decision that I made back in 2014.

The choice to have the greatest job in the entire world…. To be a film director.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to the seeming abstract idea of success is never smooth. If it is for you, the destination or goal is not crazy enough. To win big in life, you must first crumble at the idea that you actually do not know as much as you think you do. You must learn process and tenacity before you can even begin to think of what success looks like. Struggles in themselves have never been the enemy to me. In order to grant yourself success and overcome turmoil, you must be fantastic at taking hits or losses but absolutely terrible at accepting them long term.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in film direction, screenwriting and editing. A staple of my work really boils down to the grand scale of it all. While very minimal in budget, I take no shortcuts ensuring that big budget set pieces, props, camera equipment and actors are able to be used creatively and inexpensively. By the time I left Calgary, I had grown a strong reputation as the person to call when you needed something special, off the wall or unique in their production, whether that be an airplane, special locations or editing effects. Regardless of the request, I was always more than pleased to offer help and creative input into my peers work through networking and outreach to other creatures in my area.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Keeping this list short is not only very difficult but criminal as I see every collaborator that I’ve worked with as a new outlet of opinions and ideas for my work to grow as a whole. But here are some who stick out very vividly in recent memory.

1) My parents, Lisa and Bruno and younger brother Matteo for their continual support no matter the instance.

2) My cousin Emilio Lindia for being there since before I can even remember as a positive influence on my mentality, work ethic and integrity as a human being and always being able to bring a smile to my face on even the hardest days.

3) My frequent creative collaborators Ray Dhaliwal, Gabriel Hayden, Liam Purcell, Aaron Belot and Daniel Rubert for their tenacity and grit even in the hardest of creative circumstances. Together, we always keep the creative ball rolling toward new ground and better work.

4) My frequent acting collaborators, Victor Okyei, Sachin Sinnathamby, Ethan Tse, Checxx, Anthony Trotta, Domenico Daprocida, Michael Nesterenko and Colby Ferguson for their consistent belief in the work that we do and the films that we have shot.

5) Canadian music producer Munachinso for providing me the opportunity to work with such talented rap artists such as Checxx, Nyza and Y.S.R to name a few. Your friendship elevates my work ten-fold.

6) My closest of friends. Leonardo Galindo, Sergio Murillo, Alex and Benjamin Rowlandson, Mat Cloutier, Jakob Bogale, Alex Rozario, Alison Pankewich, Paul Doucet, Cory and Kyle Hammer, Skylar Wiltse, Xavian Abrahams, Gianluca and Nicholas Barone, Skye Skogen, Micah Laya and Jordan Hosang. I would like to give a huge thank you to Abagail Vanmerlin for her friendship and relentless ambition within the world of arts in Canada…You’re friendship means a lot. As well, my family at Enta Solutions back home. See you all soon

7) My extended family such as my godfather Tony Fasano, my other cousins: Athena, Natasha, Tiana, Adam, Laura, and Sandra. My grandparents and all my aunts and uncles.
