Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Kennedy.
Hi Dominic, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Philadelphia and attended university of the sciences. I was one of those in school to get a degree and pretty much impress those around me; but I knew deep down this wasn’t what I wanted to do. One day I decided to reach my goal and move to Los Angeles (about ten years ago and was best decision I ever made). I came with my car, clothes, laptop and a lot of drive inside me to make something of myself.
I left the corporate Pharmaceutical world back east and started to privately train in Los Angeles. I worked non-stop for years until I had built such a large clientele base and started to make really great money. From there, I went on to get my real estate license as I’ve always had a huge interest in this and now work for the Aaron Kirman Group in Beverly Hills under compass (we are the #1 team in SoCal and among the top 10 teams in the United States).
Real estate has been an amazing journey being able to still personal train clients and gets many referrals through my PT clients. I am selling multi-million dollar homes, it’s incredible.
During covid, I wanted to help people more, on a global level where I could offer them personal training and meal plans from the tap of their phone. I created the Dominic Effect App, the app is amazing, full customized workout plans with video tutorials, meal plans, meditation and more. I launched this over a year ago and it’s thriving; plus my clients love it!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, not at all. It’s been a very bumpy road. Leaving everything you know is challenging but I’ve also had no help along the way so I really had to figure out things all on my own. But that is the beauty, it pushed me to work so hard, network, work even harder internally on myself and now manifest everything I’ve wanted.
Some of the struggles involved self-doubt and worry and wondering if I could do this all. But that is also where I have grown and learned so much about myself as a person. There are times being self-employed where for a split second I was envious of people getting a paycheck consistently every week or two, but I wouldn’t change my career path at all, that fear has led me to so many amazing directions that involve success.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I used to do competitive bodybuilding so I am known for my expertise in transforming hundreds of bodies and mindsets in Los Angeles.
But, I am known in real estate too, my connections between my fitness and real estate career coincide together; basically, I am known at helping people reach their goals no matter what it may be. Buying a home or getting in the best shape of their life.
I am proud of all the bodybuilding competitions I put myself in but most importantly having absolutely no help financially or emotionally when I moved here and making something of myself.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Showing up every single day with a positive attitude and giving off good energy, being 100% genuine in what I am doing and honest.
You are your own cheerleader when self-employed so it’s not always easy, but staying positive and really working on your mental health will lead you in amazing directions. This is really important.
