Today we’d like to introduce you to Mimicgawd.
Mimicgawd, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out very early on in my childhood knowing I wanted to be an artist and I liked to make things that made people feel confident in themselves. I have been working as a freelance artist for the past 11 years on my own as Mimicgawd and previously had a brand called Mimic Clothing. Today I am creative director and part-owner of Namiwear LLC, an anime based streetwear brand.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Depression and Anxiety are huge parts of the journey when you are the only one who believes in yourself until you can find others to lift you up when you are down. I try my hardest not to get jaded by successes and “support” from people who sit back and watch people struggle until its time to celebrate.

Namiwear is an Anime based streetwear brand that specializes in making everyday cosplay. We are black-owned and operated and are the little brother company of the super successful Noir Caesar Anime/Manga company. As of today, I am most proud of our performance at our very first convention at AnimeNYC this past weekend. What sets us apart from others is we know exactly what’s missing and we aren’t just copying and pasting google images on shirts we are real black anime fans and we are going to bring that culture to anime like never before.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was very introverted but I also love the spotlight which seems pretty strange but I’m either comfortable by myself or when I’m performing. I always was looking for ways to make money with my creativity and was always very ambitious.
