Meet Dj Mr Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Mr Lee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dj Mr Lee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started off just liking to dance… So I worked on it and got better ad better, eventually some offered to pay me to perform, and that was the being of my dance career. I got my 1st job as a senior in high school for the R&B singer Joe. Throughout the years as a dancer, I got to work with artists like Ashanti, Wyclef, Russell Simmons, Baby Bash, Cassidy, Omarion, Sisqo, and Beyoncé. After a long and successful career, I just burned out with the dance world and I retired. But I missed the connection to music I got from dancing… That was when I began Djing. Thanks to my dancing background, timing, music knowledge, and music selection came very naturally to me, that and a LOT of practice helped excel with djing. I spent a lot of time in the local bar and club scene, mastering my craft… The time I spent at Raw Monday run by Dj Kid fresh was an amazing place for me to practice, be inspired, be challenged, and most importantly supported, I’m really grateful to Him and everyone there for helping me along my journey.

The latest chapter in my journey just seems like the natural evolution into Producing music. After spending years dissecting music as a dancer, and learning the music that keeps people on the dance floor as a dj music production also came fairly naturally, and I kept the same focus I did as a dance and dj to make people feel something.

I’m proud to say that I will be dropping my 1st single Wide Open ft. J-FAMILIAR Sept. 16th. I’m very proud of this project because I executive produced it, and found an amazing artist to bless the track with his lyrics… getting in touch with my inner Dj Khalid lol. This will be the 1st single of my upcoming EP. I had the pleasure of working with Quarantiinetarantino Films to put together some AMAZING visuals for the single… I’m very excited to share with the world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The life of an artist is rarely a smooth one… I’ve been evicted, had a car repossessed, slept on couches, wondered where my next meal was coming from… But I never lost my focus or my drive… I knew I had to push thru… Eventually, I booked a job with Sisqo as a dancer and worked with him for the last ten years + 1st as a dancer then as a DJ and soon as a producer (shhhh) lol.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Now I am grateful for every single hardship I want through because it made me stronger and wiser… Now I have the benefit of going through the entertainment industry with a level of experience and knowledge of business that I never had in my early days… As a Dj, I believe my artistry and the energy is what sets me apart. I love all kinds of music so that means I can play from breakbeats to trap music and everything in between while taking you on a journey playing tracks that simultaneously take you instantly to a time in your life as well as get your body moving. That motivation to dance is the driving force for all the music I do.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck… Success is when preparation meets opportunity. I work really hard to try to be as prepared as I possibly can so that anytime an opportunity presents itself, I’m going to CRUSH IT! Respect relationships and professionalism go a long way… people will always work with someone who works hard and they can count on to get the job done well and on time… Time is money lol.
