Meet DJ Killer B

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Killer B.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
While attending college, I was asked to DJ at college parties and events due to my deep interest in music. This started my interest into the world of mixing music and the influence it has over a crowd of people.

Throughout the years, I continued to enjoy DJ’ing, its culture, and the technology associated with it. During the earlier years, I learned the art of beat mixing to allow for a seamless mix. I especially enjoy presenting music and the different musical genres to people whether it’s in a private or public setting. As a result of living and DJ’ing in a diverse multi-cultural area such as Southern California, the exploration of the different musical styles requested has been both exciting and challenging. The outcome has always been satisfying with a successful event.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Yes and No.

There were times it was difficult balancing a career as an electrician, having a family, and life events. However, those events have in return influenced themselves into what I do. For example, DJ’ing my daughter’s school events, supporting youth groups, creating additional opportunities, and assisting with an after-school program introducing the opportunities as a DJ to students.

Until recently, the Pandemic has caused all private indoor events to dry up. I was fortunate enough to be able to continue spinning music at an open-air rooftop establishment on a regular basis. This allowed guests a chance to escape and enjoy themselves with a night out, a beautiful view, and fun upbeat music.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been DJ’ing for the last 38 years. I provide music, lighting, sound, and any special requests needed to set the mood for an event. As mentioned earlier, my experience as a DJ started with college parties and has continued with nightclubs, school events and dances, weddings, corporate events, and many other social functions. I have also had the opportunity to spin live sets during the Reggae shows on 100.3 The Beat (Get Up Stand Up), 103.1 Groove Radio, 88.9 KXLU, and part of the production team for 96.7 3 O’clock Radio.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
With each event, there is always an opportunity to collaborate with clients, guests, and vendors in future productions. Social media has further enabled ways of collaboration.

Multiple friendships and collaborations have been started while DJ’ing through the years including corporate events, nightclubs, weddings, school events, etc.
