Meet Dj Baby Uniq

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Baby Uniq.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
One of my first memories is of my Nana (Grandmother) encouraging me to sing a Selena song on stage at a family gather in a community center in Yuma, Arizona. As a classically trained musician, I’ve been playing and making music my entire life; I’m a deejay, producer, vocalist, pianist, and writer born and raised in Lincoln Heights (Los Angeles). I took to the stage for my first live performance at The Airliner when I was 18. After attending an event called Body High when I was 21, I began to truly see deejaying as an art form in a way I never had before. Shortly after I started to practice deejaying and producing my own remixes. I talked my way into my first gig, however, I let my work speak for itself generally, and one thing led to another.

Please tell us about your art.
I live art. Beyond my musical titles, I am an actress and illustrator. My art is mainly an expression of my sadness, therefore I create happiness for myself. Hopefully for others as well. I produce all my own original music, edits, remixes, and my goal as a deejay is to show you what goes on in my head. I like to call my deejaying style a musical collage. There’s a message within the message and a song within a song. Above all, I want to make you feel like I’m right there with you. I want you to know you’re never alone in any circumstance. There’s always light within darkness. TRUST YOUR MADNESS!

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Hard work and dedication is the key to achieving any goals in life!
Listen to your gut and your heart.
~TRUST YOUR MADNESS~
