Today we’d like to introduce you to Dionte – Cadillac D Jones.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in West Los Angles CA on a street called Cadillac. An area with great talents that made it out of the neighborhood or still in the neighborhood, making ways for others to grow their own talents… The area I grew up in was tough at times but music, sports, and writing, kept me away from a lot of trouble that I could of endured, tho I still had my fair share of conflicts, like gang culture, police harassment, drug abuse and just being a black man in America… So writing and making music was a great outlet, been writing music since I was 15, loved it ever since. Made friendships through music that can last ages, like artists, producers, actors, cinematographers, engineers, filmmakers, etc., names as Brian Smith, Jordan Ballos, Charlie Brite, William Washington, Jacob Shiferaw, Teven, David Spinner, William Spinner, Dylan Adtkins, Manny Pleitez, and many others, inspired or helped me along the way through my journey and being a rapper in this industry…
I get my creativity through the struggles I have been through or the way I had to hustle or grind to strive, I talk and rap about my single mother’s struggles and trials and tribulations she been through to raise me and my sister, I stay representing my home town LA, plus the street I grew up on Cadillac in West LA. I get on topics that can enlighten you what others are going through plus giving you my vision on where I’m trying to go in this game of rap… I keep to a Traditional style of rap, with heavy lyrics that paint pictures, to give you an outlook on life that can be ugly but much wonder and beauty as well… creating music and writing songs for me is a great stress reliever, it’s like a way I can be truthful to myself and my listeners, I like the whole project of it, from the beginning like finding a beat and writing to it, to the finishing touches on it where you are in a room with the producer and engineer vibing to what yah created together ..my main message and purpose to rap is to show that, as a man in America a black man at that, dreams are a reality when you strive for greatness in you, and to bring greatness out of others…. Nobody can stop you but you, paint your own pictures, life is your own canvas…
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ll tell people or others that Pursuing this dream or career that it will have its ups and downs, especially if you are an independent artist as myself, know that it will be no corners cut, you will have to learn the ins and outs of the game. Really finding your grind to pay for promotions and to put out your project is what makes a task or a struggle but conquering and overcoming the hurdles to make that vision a reality is all worth it… so all the blood, sweat and tears mean everything .. if u have a true passion for this you will figure out how to overcome tough situations. Which truly makes you better in the long run….
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Well, being me personally sets me apart and keeping to my tunnel vision, keeping to my task to put out projects the right way, schooling myself on the rap game, like promotions, LLC, royalties, managers, show presentations, owing the rights to all my music, etc., I truly am proud of being a wordsmith, being a writer… creator of placing where words are supposed to be… I’m know for being authentic in my raps and music, bringing light to where I grew up at in West Los Angeles, I love that all of my projects have people I grew up with and family that helped or were in contributing…
