Today we’d like to introduce you to Dina Kabdolla.
Dina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Originally, I am from Kazakhstan, I’ve been dreaming to become a designer since 11 years old. I left my hometown when I was 15, to chase a goal. I lived in the UK for 3 years and then moved out to LA, then graduated here at FIDM. I started developing my brand at 23 and launched at 24 (it was way too early :)) but my life circumstances brought me here and since then, step by step we getting there. I always had a goal to bring an impact into the fashion industry and slowly my team and I are getting there.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There is always ups and downs along your way, but definitely, you need the right people by your side. If you already found your team who supports your long-term goal, then your chances to achieve it is definitely increased!
Of course, there is always issues with budget, every designer has it along the way. Most of the designers has their issues with minimum orders, lack of quality and quantity. At this very moment my team and I working with another startup, that can change lives to a many local upcoming, young, fresh designers. We would like to impact not only to our brand but also support others.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the AyA by DK story. Tell us more about the business.
AyA by DK specializing in clothing but not just in clothing, we produce everyday contemporary apparel. In our capsule collection, we work mainly with custom-made knits with silk blends. Most of our prints special made by me, I am an artist, decided to combine fashion with an art. AyA seasonal collection is more different and yet still feminine, smart & fit!
