Diane, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been a Buyer and Manager of specialty retail stores for over 20 years. My passion is in handmade artisan items such as jewelry, leather goods, greeting cards and so much more. I have worked with hundreds of incredibly talented artists in my career and I am always excited to find new work. I enjoy creating a great experience for customers in every way.
An opportunity to open a retail store of my own presented itself in South Pasadena. Not only did I open the first retail shop of my own, I also moved directly above the store! Every day I descend the steps from my apartment to open the doors for my customers and share my passion for beauty and fun!
I am thrilled to be a part of this incredibly beautiful tree-lined community both professionally and personally. The shop’s location is on charming Mission Street across from the popular Farmer’s Market and the Gold Line Metro. I am surrounded by so many great restaurants, galleries and retail stores which makes the neighborhood the perfect destination to stroll and enjoy the beauty and quaintness of South Pasadena.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only road that hasn’t been smooth was the 101! HA! I no longer have to deal with that!
I always let my heart lead me. I always trust that I’m headed in the right direction. I’m always open to what presents itself. In doing so, life unfolds as it should. This works well for me!

I really enjoy connecting with my customers. I care greatly about their experience in my shop. I want them to feel comfortable and enjoy their surroundings. I present to them beautifully handcrafted merchandise with a story about the artist and their work. I encourage guests to pick up and play the handcrafted ukuleles or try on all the jewelry they’d like with no obligation or pressure. Pet’s and kids are welcome!
I also carry some keenly curated and irresistible commercial items that add to the delight of the shop. Nothing makes me happier than chuckles from the shoppers. If they don’t purchase anything today, they will remember me tomorrow.
