Meet Dhivya Srinivasa of AVARA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dhivya Srinivasa.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Phew … lots to unpack here.

Started in Medicine and became a plastic surgeon. I specialized in microsurgery because breast cancer reconstruction was always an important component of plastic surgery for me. Turns out I loved it so much I wanted to specialize in only that. The problem was, working for all men in a system that did not reward excellence was not the right paradigm for me. I launched my private practice and have not looked back! I am fully out of network but stay booked and busy through word of mouth, referrals from juggernauts in the field, and social media. During this transition I became really interested in real estate and made some worthwhile decisions on the residential side. I just now transitioned to commercial real estate. I am also launching AVARA this month! I could not be more excited. AVARA is the first health inclusive skin care brand to hit the market. I was inspired by the women I treat every day that are healing from cancer. The reality is, many women are healing from something, whether IVF, post partum, autoimmune conditions, menopause, cancer or something else!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sounds weird to say this, but no struggles. I had three children in training. I have a supportive husband. I find that the biggest struggle is often the person themselves. You have to believe in yourself to a point of near delusion. Lucky for me, there is no lack of confidence! I look at life as a sum total balance – you have to be ok in failing sometimes as long as you are succeeding overall.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about AVARA ?
AVARA is my most recent launch! Avara is creating a new conversation in beauty: health inclusivity. I see so many women come in mid breast cancer treatment feeling lost when it comes to self care. Their doctors tell them to quit everything except vaseline because they do not have the time to vet ingredients. This is the reality for a lot of women not just going through cancer, but pregnancy, menopause IVF, and so much more. I felt it as timely as ever to introduce a vetted line of skin care products. designed for the woman who is healing (which is literally all of us). The part I am most proud of? I was in the lab. Almost every skin care brand pulls products pre-formulated and slaps their name on it. I will never do that. I hired a private chemist and constructed each product, ingredient by ingredient, with every ounce of intention and clarity needed. Each product is uniquely formulated, and a beautiful bled of western science and eastern Ayurveda. This is also how I was able to get hypochlorous acid (the ‘it girl” skin care ingredient of 2024) formulated with two forms of magnesium (the up and coming “it girl” ingredient of 2025). Hypochlorous has not been formulated with any other actives to date. I made it happen with my background in science and chemistry. Avara is the new frontier in beauty inclusivity.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
confidence.

You have to believe in yourself because no one else will. Doubt always comes first. Frankly, failure often comes first too. I have just always believed in myself because my instinct has never led me astray. If you do not drown yourself in self confidence, it is impossible to have the strength to take risks. If you never take a risk, monumental growth is almost impossible.
