Meet Devin Schumacher of SEO Firepower

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Schumacher.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Graduating with a Finance degree from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder, I went into banking. Unfortunately, it was 2009 and the financial industry wasn’t doing too well (understatement).

I found myself a job with JP Morgan Chase and quickly became a private banker in their Chase Private Client department.

The hours, corporate structure, and wearing suits in the middle of 100+ degree Los Angeles summers didn’t cut it for me so after a few years I left to start my own company.

The first venture was an e-commerce based store selling food supplements for women to help relieve symptoms of menopause. This was a proprietarily created product by German scientists and doctors for which we purchased the exclusive rights to sell in the United States.

I was in charge of the finances, fundraising, and part of the operations.

Long story short, this company failed due to lack of an executable marketing plan and internal difficulties with too many “founders.”

I learned some incredibly valuable lessons, and decided to start learning about the things that crushed the company – online marketing.

Over the next 5+ years I began to experiment with, and have great success in, systemizing marketing plans, social media growth strategies, and then search engine optimization. The ability to control organic traffic & paid traffic is probably the most powerful thing that any business can have on their side. Without traffic, you have no business – no matter how good your product.

I met my business partner, Trevor Hawley at an SEO convention, and discovered that he was also coincidentally an alumnus of CU Boulder, had some similar previous business learning experiences and we shared some of the same goals – that was about 12 months ago. We decided to go into business together, and now we run one of the top SEO companies in the country.

We currently provide SEO services to almost every type of business. Our agency also provides white label services to other marketing consultants and SEO companies – handling all of their client deliverables so they can focus on prospecting. We currently handle SEO for over 100+ companies internationally, and are in full growth mode.

These are exciting times to be a business owner, and with the help of the right online marketing company you can absolutely crush your competition.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No road worth traveling is a smooth road. We have had a lot of learning experiences, made a ton of sacrifices, and basically spent 16-hour days for the last 2 years “in the lab” creating systems, training our team, growing, experimenting, running tests, and honing our process.

To be honest, with all that we have accomplished we still do not even consider ourselves “launched.”

We have extremely high standards for the impact we want to make in the internet marketing world, and the value we want to be able to deliver our clients & customers.

We are just scratching the surface of what’s possible, and we look forward to helping many more business owners 10x their revenue over the next 5 years.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SEO Firepower – what should we know?
Technically, we are an SEO company. SEO is an acronym that stands for Search Engine Optimization.

SEO is still a relatively new concept to many people, but essentially what we do is help businesses rank their website highly in search engines for terms that their ideal customers are searching for daily.

For example: If you are a Los Angeles Dentist, with a hypothetical practice called “Crentist the Dentist” only so many people are going to be searching for “Crentist” – your ‘brand name’. Most people don’t know who you are, and will go online looking for things “dentist near me”, or “best dentist in Los Angeles.”

We help your business rank for the ‘generic’ terms so you can pick up 100s of additional leads per month.

The internet is growing like crazy, and the amount of leads and prosperity a business can generate from being visible on Google, Yahoo & Bing is life changing.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I don’t believe that anyone who has ever achieved their goals has done it alone, however I also don’t want to turn this question into a Grammy acceptance speech, but I have definitely had my fair share of mentors.

There are a lot of really intelligent SEO specialists out there – many of whom I know on a personal level and I am very grateful to have a mastermind group of literally the best online marketers on this planet at my fingertips to be able to exchange information and continually learn from.
