Meet Devia Pant of JSRP Tutors in Irvine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devia Pant.

Devia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My tryst with destiny started when my husband and I landed in the US in the year 2002.

My husband and I firmly believed that we could achieve our potential best in this land of opportunities. An English major, in order to fulfill my personal and professional goal, I enrolled to seek an AMS Montessori teacher certification. I loved Dr. Montessori’s philosophy and felt genuinely inspired by her principles as a teacher.

In 2006, destiny again beckoned and I was presented with an opportunity to volunteer as an English language tutor. I began my formal tutoring career in 2007 and a dream was born. In 2008, I started tutoring over Skype and my dreams actually took flight! Now the world was my oyster since I was able to not only tutor in person locally but was also able to virtually teach anywhere in the country. In 2010, as fortune dictated, I achieved my goal to start a small tutoring company, which to this day prides itself on providing quality, affordable English and math tutoring.

Today, my company JSRP Tutors has successfully tutored hundreds of students not only in the US but also in countries like India, China, Canada, Thailand & Singapore. Based in Irvine, California, I live with my husband and two boys. I am currently pursuing my Fellowship with San Diego State University with Fellows of California World Language Project, SAILN.

I tutor full time and love every moment of my time spent in class. I am able to not only spend quality time raising my two sons but can also invest my strength and knowledge into nurturing the brilliance of my students. My students range from grades K to 10 and I also work as online principal English language tutor for SAT/ACT preparation with Bright Kids LLC.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Though the road till yet has been a fortuitous one, sometimes there have been bumps along the way. Since 2002, my family and I had to crisscross the country due to my husband’s work. We have called Texas, Massachusetts, Illinois, North Carolina & California our home at some point in time. The constant moving posed a challenge for the company as it necessitated reinvention.

However, with continued support from the parents and some old-fashioned elbow grease, reinvention became our USP. We learned how to juggle different time zones, launch marketing campaigns, generate word of mouth publicity and keep a firm eye on the evolving trends. Since we tutor both in person and on Skype, my company became a constant which brought alignment to all the other variables in my life.

Though struggles are a reality, the proverbial road to success is still being traversed by my company, helping students to achieve their potential best is our inspiration.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about JSRP Tutors – what should we know?
My Tutoring Company is called JSRP Tutors. The USP of my tutoring company is that we strongly address a subject’s fundamentals and once we build our core strength, we go full steam ahead to ensure that the students achieve their full potential.

Most of the students register an impact almost instantly and once their self-confidence is fortified, progress is guaranteed. Our approach is interactive and customized to suit the various learning styles, unlike the one-size-fits-all policy mandated by others in the business. We are proud and at the same time humbled by the testimonials we have earned, from parents worldwide.

I have more than ten years of experience as a tutor and in the course of a decade I have taught kids, grades K to 12, in person locally and also across the US and other countries via Skype. I also work in collaboration with an online company called Bright Kids LLC as the English language SAT and ACT Principal Tutor. Having worked with various age groups and grades, my experience as a tutor has helped me design and offer affordable structured lessons which are targeted for maximum enhancement.

The English lessons are centered around essay writing, reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, spelling & vocabulary. Easy to follow instructions and homework patterned on effective reinforcement creates guaranteed retention. My English language SAT and ACT foundational courses are designed to teach the fundamentals of standardized testing in the most effective manner.

Over Summer, to ensure that students can review/revise/enhance and outperform, JSRP Tutors’ have created a “League of Champions” to challenge the students creatively. The students vie for being Spelling Bee/Vocabulary Bee/ Grammar Bee/Essay & Creative Writing Champ in a friendly but competitive setup.

Specific training is provided, both online and in person and by the end of the program, we have students who are all set to tackle the new Academic Year with a razor-sharp brain. Awards, Trophies & Certification are not only our motivating forces but also our appreciation for their efforts and achievements.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
With God’s grace, I have been blessed with a strong family support which has enabled me to pursue my entrepreneurial ambitions. My family back home in India, including my grandmother, aunts, and uncles provided me with the opportunity to cultivate such aspirations. My education is my catalyst and I owe my family immense gratitude since they kindled in me a love for learning.

My husband Rajesh and my kids Raghav and Reyansh have been the center of my universe as much as I have been theirs, their support vital in order to make my business evolve. My husband has offered his unbridled support to all my endeavors since it takes two to lend the core strength to succeed. My kids have inspired me to follow a method of instructions which has always been the foundation of my classes, to date.

My mentor Dr. Seema Choudhary, the founder of OC Indian Women, has guided me every step of the way and continues to inspire me and scores of others to follow their dreams.

Her support has been the USP for many in our business and social community. My students and their parents are the sole reason that our business has grown from strength to strength and I value each lesson they have taught me. My efforts are dedicated to all who have believed in me.

• The classes are very affordable, monthly tuition is $ 150 per subject for middle school students, for 8 classes in a month. For elementary students, the tuition is
