Meet Deven Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deven Green.

Deven, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The inscrutable Deven Green started out as a professional figure skater in the tundra of Canada and ended up as an award-winning, head-tilting, ukulele-strumming, comedic chanteuse in the heart of Los Angeles.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My road has been easier than my dear friends of the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+. community.
I do my best to give voice to their rights and acceptance.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DevenGreen.com – what should we know?
WELL HELLO! You may know me from my cult-classic “Welcome To My Home” & “Welcome To My White House” parodies, portraying the satirical Betty Bowers – America’s Best Christian, judging on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” laughing at my comedy videos in some of the most famous drag queen’s shows or proudly performing my live music show as a comedic chanteuse in brothels across America and Europe.

Deven Green & Ned Douglas sing their version of songs from the 1920s to today in a charming music show all played on electric ukulele/guitar! From mash-ups to sing-a-longs to audience requests, there is no genre these human jukeboxes can’t tackle.

“You never know what Deven will say or play next! On top of it all, this girl can SING.” – Las Vegas Beat

FUN FACT: Deven Green & Ned Douglas created texting stickers and stamps which became two of the Top 10 Apple Apps called “Elegantly Filthy.”

EVEN MORE FUN FACT: Deven Green & Ned Douglas just released a retro-chic, coffee-table book entitled, “Everyone F*ck Off.”

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
1. Be a creator. Never wait for others to give you permission to create something.

2. Learn how to do everything yourself. For example, even if you don’t end up editing your own videos at least learn the basics of editing. It will change how you shoot when you know what editing choices are realistic.

3. Don’t compare yourself to others.

4. Don’t create work to be famous. Release your art (whatever form that may be) to compliment your entire body of work.

Pricing:

  • Akbar (Silverlake) – No cover.
  • Apple Apps “Elegantly Filthy” – Free/$.99
  • Cufflettes $25.00
  • Everyone F*ck Off book – Only sold at live shows $20
