Meet Derek Morris of BMB in HollyWood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Morris.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started BMB in 2017 just a fun music project when I sobered up. (Which I been sober for two years/six months) It was just for fun and became bigger than I thought it would of in just two years. Spreading hope and the fact that YOU ARE LOVED. Is one of my big factors in this machine. And now with the platform, I have been blessed with and growing. I have more people to spread that encouragement too through my music and past stories of my life’s struggles with drugs, alcohol, mental abuse and the struggles of having P.T.S.D.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing is ever easy in life. But if u just keep going and never give up you will receive the prize. I had many people tell me this is a “Pipe Dream” and I keep telling them that I’m more into helping people with my music than anything. Even close family members were discouraging. Always saying. “Is that all you ever do is make music” so yah that was a huge obstacle when your own family doesn’t agree with what you are doing. But I never gave up.

Please tell us about BMB.
BMB is more than just music I make from my heart and past stories of pain, drugs, being an alcoholic and mental abuse. I also have P.T.S.D. And BMB has help me share my past and present stories with the world. Encouraging others to not give up on life in its hard times. My songs are filled with Hope and messages that YOU ARE LOVED. I also give away a free book I wrote called “THINKING ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU ARE LOVED.” The book is filled with one liners as “You can do anything” “You are not alone” etc. and artwork. It has impacted many peoples life’s. I get Emails everyday how my book and music has helped people with suicide, mental illnesses, even helped people check into rehab. It’s been so crazy. To think that God has blessed me with these gifts to help others in hard times. That’s what BMB is truly about helping others and showing them they are loved.

I feel I am very set apart from other as far as music goes and having a vision to not be a rockstar. But to help others is first. I’m not about the fame and fortune. BMB is all about helping, encouraging, and showing people they are loved. That’s what fame is to me.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I just released a new album called “Undying Love” so now my goal is to take those songs and make music videos than can express the feeling in them. I create and direct all my music videos. I feel it’s important to get the message out in visual form. Because the lyrics are very powerful. I’m also trying to set a goal by next year give out 1 million of my books for free. That’s a huge accomplishment I know will happen. And I’m excited to see it come and just bless others with this book of encouragement and hope.
