Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetrius Bethea.
Demetrius, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey began shortly after acquiring leadership and entrepreneurial expertise working for Fortune 100 and Fortune 50 companies in Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ and noticing the need for a change in corporate America culture beginning with implementing diversity and inclusion. Upon arrival to North Carolina from Scottsdale, AZ, I began connecting with like-minded individuals who later became mentors and board members for my company.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. When I started in 2018 I had no investors, limited connections and limited resources as I was new to the area, new to networking and in transition as an employee. I found a job in corporate and a second job at a warehouse doing manual labor in the evening to support myself and to bootstrap my vision. I worked 12-16 hour days while simultaneously serving on the board of multiple non-profits and attending weekly networking events. I sacrificed going on trips, purchasing new clothes and going out to parties to have resources readily available for my company.

“The Royal Umbrella” is a premier, boutique recruitment firm focused on the temporary and permanent placement of medical and technology professionals. With over 35 years of experience with placement and sourcing we have developed a business model that offers both our clients and candidates with a streamline screening and hiring process. Our goal is to ensure our clients and candidates receive personalized attention, exceptional service and a consultative approach. We are currently investing in the development of a groundbreaking platform to provide solutions to those impacted by COVID-19. This platform is expected to be available to the public at the latest Q4 2020.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment so far happens daily. It is the ability to make an impact on the lives of great people going through a tough time. Whether a business or a candidate people come to The Royal Umbrella with a problem, they need fixed quickly. They oftentimes went to larger companies that have let them down. Being the company that offers consistent value and service to the community we serve makes us proud each and every day.
