Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetra Mcknight-Young.
Hi Demetra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I spend my days reading between the lines of what isn’t said.
As a Certified Medical Coding Supervisor in Pathology, I’ve never met the patients whose records cross my desk. But I think about them constantly. Behind every report is a person waiting for an answer…a cancer diagnosis, a treatment plan, hope. I’d sit at my computer, meticulously ensuring their reports aligned with medical guidelines so they could get the care they needed, and I’d say silent prayers for them. Especially the cancer patients.
I loved that work. I still do. But there was always something missing…I never got to see the outcome. Never knew if that person was okay.
Then my dad died of cancer.
And suddenly, those patient reports felt a lot more personal.
He worked for Miller Air Conditioning & Heating Company for decades. The owners loved him. He was dedicated, tireless, the kind of man who’d work from sunrise to well past dark because that’s what it took to provide for our family of six. My mom raised four kids while he poured everything into his craft. By the time he came home, he was exhausted. And I lost time with him. Time I can never get back.
When he passed, Miller Air Conditioning gave us his company truck. They showed up for us in ways I’ll never forget. But I couldn’t stop thinking about how much of his life he spent working, and how little time he had left to just “be”.
That’s when something shifted for me.
I started seeing the same pattern everywhere. Small business owners, plumbers, HVAC techs, electricians, people who love their craft but are drowning in the day-to-day. Missing calls. Losing revenue. Wearing every hat. Working so hard they miss their kids’ games, skip vacations, and sacrifice their health. They were all working themselves to the bone. Just like my dad did.
A plumber told me he just wanted to make enough money to take his family on vacation without stressing about it. That broke me. Because I’ve been blessed to travel the world, and I know what it feels like to have that freedom. But more than that, I know what it’s like to watch someone you love work themselves to the bone and never get it.
So, I decided to do something about it.
I went to my husband and asked if he could invest in my education, courses, certifications, and the tools I needed to really master this. He didn’t hesitate. He believed in me when I was still figuring out if I believed in myself. That support meant everything to me. It gave me the confidence to go all in, to bet on this vision, and to build something that could genuinely change lives. I started learning everything I could about marketing, advertising, automation, and AI. Not the kind of AI that replaces people, but the kind that “helps” them. The kind that answers the phone at 9 PM when a homeowner’s pipe bursts. The kind that qualifies leads while a business owner is finally sitting down to dinner with their family. The kind that gives them their time back.
The learning curve was steep. AI evolves so fast that by the time you master one tool, three more have launched. I had doubts. I wondered if I could keep up in a tech world that never slows down. Then earlier this year, my mom, the backbone of our family, the woman I’ve always looked up to, was hospitalized. Watching her go from strong and vibrant to bedridden in the blink of an eye changed everything for me.
Life is so fragile. Timing is everything.
My mom is still here, thank God, and she’s still fighting. That taught me something crucial: “never give up . No matter what life throws at you. Keep going. Keep smiling. Keep laughing. Because laughter really is medicine, and sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps you from crying.
My husband Steven supports me with love and grace that never wavers, my Goddaughter Leah keeps me going with laughter, my amazing mother keeps me grounded as well as my Godparents when I need it most, and my wonderful sister and close friends keep me focused even when life gets chaotic. They remind me why I started this in the first place: to give other people that same feeling of being supported, seen, and never alone in the fight. And now, when I help a business owner automate their calls, rank higher on Google, or recover thousands in lost revenue, I get to see the impact firsthand. I get the hug. I hear the relief in their voice. I “know” they’re okay.
That’s what I never had with those patient reports. But now? I get to be part of someone’s story in real time. I get to help them reclaim their freedom, spend time with their kids, take that vacation, live their life.
Dallas is my heart. I was born and raised here. And if I can use AI, this incredible, misunderstood technology, to help even one local business owner spend more time with the people they love and less time buried in overwhelm, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
We’re in an era where AI isn’t about replacing humans. It’s about helping them. Supporting them. Giving them back the one thing they can never get more of: “time”.
Life is short. We have to embrace every moment before we take our last earthly breath. And if I can be a small part of making sure business owners get to do that, then this work means everything.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Not even close.
The biggest challenge wasn’t the technology itself; it was the pace of it. AI moves at lightning speed. One day you’re mastering a platform, feeling confident, and the next day three new tools drop that completely change the game. I had to learn to stop chasing every shiny new object and focus on what actually moves the needle for my clients. That discipline didn’t come easy.
But the real test came earlier this year when my mom was hospitalized.
She’s always been the backbone of our family, the strong one, the one we all lean on. Watching her health change overnight was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. One moment she was vibrant and full of life, and the next, she was bedridden. It shook me to my core.
I remember sitting in that hospital room thinking, “Should I even keep doing this?” The business felt small compared to what my family was going through. Time felt more precious than ever, and I questioned whether I had the emotional bandwidth to keep pushing forward.
But then I looked at my mom. Even in her weakest moments, she never gave up. She kept fighting. She kept smiling. And that’s when it hit me…this is exactly why I do what I do. Life is fragile. We don’t know how much time we have. And if I can help even one business owner reclaim their time so they don’t look back with regret, then I can’t stop now.
My mom is still here, thank God, and she’s still my greatest motivator.
Another struggle? Convincing business owners to trust AI.
I get it, handing over something as personal as customer interactions to a “machine” feels risky. A lot of owners are skeptical. They’ve been burned by overseas call centers or clunky automation that feels robotic. So, I had to shift my approach. Instead of explaining the technology, I let them experience it. I give them a demo number to call. I let them talk to the AI, ask it questions, and almost every time, they’re shocked at how human it sounds.
That’s when the lightbulb goes off. They realize it’s not about replacing people; it’s about making sure no opportunity slips through the cracks while they’re doing what they do best.
I’ve also had to navigate the emotional weight of this work. When an electrician tells me he just wants to afford a vacation without stress, or when a business owner admits they’ve missed their kid’s games because they’re always on call, it hits me hard. I think about my dad working himself to exhaustion. I think about all the time we lost.
It fuels me, but it also reminds me that what I’m doing isn’t just business. It’s personal. It’s about giving people their lives back.
And honestly? There are days when I still doubt myself. Days when I wonder if I’m doing enough, if I’m keeping up, if I’m making a real difference.
But then I remember: The best transformations don’t start with a plan. They start in the refining.
That’s what God does with our ashes.
This business was born in mine. I’ve walked through the fire, the kind that refines you, not destroys you. The moments I couldn’t control. The challenges I didn’t see coming.
But those weren’t setbacks. They were setups.
Because when you’re aligned with God’s purpose, He doesn’t confuse you…He confirms you.
Every fire I’ve walked through has confirmed one thing: I’m not here to just build a business. I’m here to help others transform theirs.
To help them reclaim their time, and to help them build something sustainable without sacrificing everything that matters.
So, if you’re in the fire right now, wondering if it’s worth it, this is your confirmation.
God is refining you. Preparing you. Positioning you for something greater than you can see right now.
The transformation doesn’t start with a blueprint. It starts in the refining. And that’s exactly where God does His best work.
That’s when the confirmation comes. A client calls to tell me they booked three extra jobs that week because the AI answered after hours. A business owner finally takes that vacation they’ve been putting off for years.
That’s when I know…every struggle, every sleepless night, every moment of doubt…it’s all worth it.
The road hasn’t been smooth. But the bumps have taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of never giving up. Just like my mom taught me.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I help small business owners, especially in home services like plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and roofing, as well as mortgage brokers, real estate brokerages, realtors, real estate teams, insurance agents, med spas, salons, and any appointment-based businesses stop losing thousands of dollars to missed calls and overwhelm.
My approach is simple: Automate, Delegate, Eliminate.
AUTOMATE the repetitive tasks that drain your time (phone calls, lead qualification, appointment booking). DELEGATE to AI so you can focus on what you do best (the craft, the clients, the revenue-generating work). ELIMINATE the chaos, the stress, and the guilt of choosing between your business and your life.
When you get those three things right, everything changes. Because the goal isn’t to bring in more leads, it’s to give business owners their lives back.
Here’s the reality most business owners don’t realize: every missed call is lost revenue walking straight to a competitor. When someone needs a plumber at 9 PM, wants to book a showing on Saturday, or is ready to schedule a spa appointment during lunch, they’re not leaving a voicemail and waiting. They’re calling the next business in 30 seconds. And if you’re with a client, eating dinner with your family, or finally getting some sleep, you just lost that customer.
Here’s exactly how I help:
1. Never Miss Another Opportunity (24/7 AI Phone & Chat)
I specialize in AI-powered phone systems (AI Receptionists) that sound so human, your customers can’t tell the difference. This is conversational AI that answers every call, qualifies leads, books appointments, and even handles follow-ups, 24/7, 365 days a year. It also handles appointment reminders, scheduled callbacks, and service follow-ups automatically, so nothing falls through the cracks. But here’s what makes it different: it doesn’t just answer the phone. It asks the right questions to qualify leads based on budget, timeline, and urgency, then books qualified appointments directly into your calendar. No tire-kickers. No time wasted on people just shopping around.
Here’s why this matters: studies show 78% of customers buy from whoever responds first. But the game-changer isn’t just getting more calls, it’s getting pre-qualified, ready-to-buy appointments that actually show up and convert. And because it’s built to work with most business systems, qualified leads flow directly into your existing workflow. It’s like having your best employee on the phone at all times, except they never take a day off, never get tired, and never miss a call.
2. Dominate Voice Search & AI Recommendations (SEO + LLM Optimization)
Here’s what most businesses don’t realize: search has completely changed. People aren’t just typing “plumber near me” anymore. They’re asking Siri, Alexa, and ChatGPT, “Who’s the best emergency plumber in Dallas?” And if your business isn’t optimized for voice search and mentioned by AI models, you’re invisible.
I make sure you’re the answer when customers ask. I optimize for conversational, voice-friendly keywords like “Who can fix my AC today?” instead of just “AC repair.” I get your business mentioned by ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews, and other large language models. I build the authority signals that AI models trust, like reviews, citations, and structured data. And I make sure you rank on page 1 for the searches that actually drive revenue.
Here’s why this matters: voice search is now over 50% of all searches, and that number is growing fast. When someone asks their phone or ChatGPT for a recommendation, there’s usually only one answer, and that’s who gets the call. The number one result gets 31% of clicks. Everyone else is fighting for scraps.
3. Turn One-Time Customers Into Repeat Revenue (Automated Follow-Up)
My system remembers every customer and reaches out automatically with personalized service reminders, seasonal offers, and review requests. Past customers are 8x more likely to buy again, but most businesses never follow up systematically. That’s thousands of dollars left on the table every year. Plus, you get a complete dashboard showing exactly where every lead came from, what’s converting, and your ROI on every marketing dollar. One system. One source of truth. Zero double entry.
Plus, I Handle the Marketing You Don’t Have Time For
Need a smart website that converts visitors into booked appointments? Social media management so you stay top-of-mind with past customers and reach new ones? Video content that showcases your work and builds trust? I’ve got you covered. These aren’t just add-ons, they’re part of building a complete system that works while you focus on what you do best.
The Magic? It’s All on Autopilot
Once everything is set up, it all runs automatically. You’re no longer missing calls while on a job. You’re not wasting time with unqualified leads. You’re not paying a receptionist $30,000+ per year. You’re not invisible when customers ask AI for recommendations. And you’re not losing to faster competitors anymore. You focus on delivering great service. My system handles everything else and fills your calendar with qualified, ready-to-buy customers.
What am I most proud of?
To be honest? The transformations.
I’m proud every time a client tells me they finally took their family on vacation without stressing about missed calls. I’m proud when a plumber books three extra jobs in a week because the AI answered after hours and tells me that’s an extra $4,000, he wouldn’t have had otherwise. I’m proud when a realtor closes more deals because qualified leads are already on their calendar. I’m proud when a med spa owner looks at me and says, “I didn’t realize how much time I was losing until I got it back.
Again, I come from a family where my dad worked himself to exhaustion in the home services industry. I watched him miss moments with us because he was always working. So, when I help a business owner spend more time at their kid’s game or finally take that trip they’ve been putting off for years, that’s everything to me.
What sets me apart?
I’m not a tech person trying to sell you software. I’m someone who genuinely cares about the people behind the business.
I still work full-time as a Medical Coding Supervisor in Pathology. I understand what it’s like to work behind the scenes, to care deeply about outcomes even when you don’t see them directly. That same heart I brought to patient care, I bring it to every business owner I work with. I want to know if you’re okay. I want to know if you’re thriving, not just surviving.
I also don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every business is different. I take the time to understand your unique challenges, your goals, and what “freedom” actually looks like for you. Some business owners want more revenue. Others just want their nights and weekends back. I tailor everything to fit your vision, not mine.
And here’s the thing, I let my work speak for itself. I don’t ask anyone to just “trust me.” I give them a demo number to call. I let them experience the AI firsthand. I let them ask questions and see for themselves how it handles real scenarios. Because once they hear it, the skepticism melts away. They get it.
I’m also deeply rooted in Dallas. This is my home. I was born and raised here. My dad worked for a local company for decades. I know what it means to support local businesses because I’ve seen firsthand how much heart, sacrifice, and grit goes into running one. When I help a Dallas business thrive, I’m not just growing a company, I’m strengthening my community.
What am I known for?
Making sure AI amplifies the human, not replaces it, so you never miss a customer, a call, or a chance to be there for the people who matter. Making business growth feel simple. And making sure no local business owner ever has to choose between their livelihood and their life again.
We’re living in an era where AI isn’t about replacing people, it’s about empowering them. It’s about taking the weight off so they can focus on what they do best and actually enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Life is short. We don’t get these moments back. And if I can help a business owner reclaim even one evening with their family, one stress-free vacation, one moment of peace, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
That’s my work. That’s my mission. That’s Elev8 Amplify Marketing.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
AI is going to become as essential to running a business as having a phone number or a website.
Right now, we’re in the early adoption phase. Some business owners are jumping in, while others are still skeptical or waiting to see what happens. But in the next 5 to 10 years, AI won’t be a “nice to have.” It’ll be a necessity. Businesses that don’t adopt some form of automation will struggle to compete with those that do. Here’s why: consumer expectations are changing fast. People want instant responses, 24/7 availability, and seamless experiences. They’re not willing to wait until Monday morning for a callback anymore. The businesses that can meet customers where they are, whenever they are, will win.
The biggest shift I see coming is AI moving from “replacement fear” to “partnership reality.” Right now, a lot of people hear “AI” and think, “Is this going to take my job?” But over the next decade, the conversation will shift to, “How can AI help me do my job better?” We’ll see AI handling the repetitive, time-consuming tasks: answering phones, scheduling appointments, following up with leads, managing inbox clutter. Meanwhile, humans get to focus on the work that actually requires creativity, strategy, and personal connection.
I also think we’re going to see a major divide between businesses that embrace this technology and those that don’t. The ones that adopt AI early will scale faster, serve more customers, and operate with less stress. The ones that resist will find themselves overwhelmed, understaffed, and constantly playing catch-up.
Another trend? Hyper-personalization. AI is getting smarter at understanding context, tone, and individual customer needs. In the next few years, AI won’t just answer calls. It’ll remember past conversations, anticipate customer needs, and deliver experiences that feel genuinely thoughtful. It’s going to blur the line even further between human and machine interaction.
For small businesses specifically, I see AI leveling the playing field. Right now, big corporations have massive teams handling customer service, marketing, and operations. But with AI, a solo entrepreneur or small team can operate with the efficiency of a much larger company. That’s powerful. It means local businesses won’t just survive; they’ll thrive.
The other big shift? Accessibility. AI tools are becoming more affordable and easier to use. You won’t need to be a tech expert to implement them. That opens the door for business owners who’ve felt left behind by technology to finally step in and reclaim their time.
At the end of the day, the businesses that win in the next 5 to 10 years will be the ones that understand this: AI isn’t about replacing the human touch. It’s about amplifying it. It’s about giving business owners the freedom to focus on what they do best while technology handles the rest.
And honestly? I’m excited to be part of that shift. Because the more we can remove the overwhelm, the more people get to live their lives. And that’s a future worth building. If you’re ready to get your life back, to finally take that vacation, to build a business that supports you instead of consuming you, I’d love to help you do that. Because you deserve to be present for the moments that matter. And your business deserves to run like the well-oiled machine it can be.
Let’s build that future together!
