Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAnna DuPree-An in-Demand Wardrobe Stylist & Personal Shopper
Thanks for sharing your story with us DeAnna. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I am a Cali native. I’ve always had a fascination with fashion, style, and powerful, feminine women for as long as I can remember. My Style Icon was, and will always be Marilyn Monroe. I was first introduced to the “womanly arts” in Charm School/Debutante Program at age 12. It was magical. I fell in love with “the art of being a lady” and the type of positive attention, and respect it brought.
So here’s my story: It was Summer 2012, I owned and operated Social Media Butterfly- a boutique digital marketing firm aiming to assist small business owners with their social media marketing efforts. On a hot summer day in Long Beach, I found myself assisting a client on site, it was a clothing boutique (as the Universe would have it). My client had an errand to run, and I volunteered to “hold down the fort” until she returned. Having previous retail experience in, I found myself elated to help the shoppers until my client returned. There was a woman, a little over 50 years young or so, she needed “something special” for a friends gathering. I was delighted to help her find something unique, special, and fabulous. We shopped every single rack! She tried on so many dresses. It was unreal…and amazing at the same time. It was in the moment we found that special piece, I felt my soul awaken.
It was the most magical moment I’d ever experienced. That’s when I knew I was not operating in my passion, and full potential. By the time my client returned to the store, I had curated over seven ensembles with accessories and shoes to match… To my surprise, the customer bought EVERYTHING!! She raved about “how much fun it was to have the personal attention focused on her, and an ‘experienced stylist’ on-hand to shop the store to find something unique and magical.”
That was my AHA moment! Overnight, Styled by DeAnna was birthed! My being a Capricorn- I leap to every business venture that my soul desires. Very impulsive to say the least. I digress. I found an image consultancy school and mentoring program to learn the ropes, and by Spring 2013 Impeccable Style, LLC was in full swing. It all came like second-nature to me. I’m still surprised how this whole think turned out.
Here we are, thriving in 2019! Very proud to share Impeccable Style, dba Styled By DeAnna, exists to provide VIP White Glove Wardrobe Styling Services to Creative, PowerHouse Women in Business – by dressing them for the brand they are becoming. I style women for their branding photo shoots, special occasions, speaking gigs, presentations, and everything in between.
I shop for the client and deliver their very own “boutique on a rack” to their home or office. I’ve witnessed my clients go from stuck to seriously successful with their style. It’s such a rewarding experience.
What I help my clients understand: How we communicate our business and brand both verbally and non-verbally is of the utmost importance, and this is where my clients gain quick wins. Every single time I go out shopping for a client, I have that same “soul-awakening” feeling I experienced in 2012. It never fails. I live and breathe fashion! This is my purpose in life.
Has it been a smooth road?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
In the beginning, it was difficult to gain trust with new clients. No one wants a stranger in their home, snooping through their closets, and judging them (so they think). My success came once I offered my service for FREE to a few powerhouse women in the community. They raved about my work and that ultimately led to curiosity. Thanks to those generous women, we had our first “roster of clients.” Greatest lesson learned: 86% of buyers buy due to referral. I constantly remind new entrepreneurs of that fact. It was one of my hardest lessons to learn. But we got over that hump.
I had to take my time and build relationships before I could even think about asking for the sale. Then there’s competing with companies like Stitch Fix, Rent the Runway, and Trunk Club- I had to find my secret sauce that made me stand out. Though those business models are brilliant, and convenient for most, I’ve found there are some busy women out there that don’t even have the time to shop online. They’d rather leave it in the hands of a professional, they adore, and trust. I KNOW my clients. I’m not some robot randomly pushing out outfits. I get to know them, who they are today, and who they’re becoming. That’s where I shine!
And then there’s learning the “slow period” of the business. Many people are hesitant to spend on high ticket services after the holidays. I had to find creative ways to sustain and keep us afloat during the first quarter. That hurt like hell! I couldn’t even pay my staff for almost three months. I was devastated. But it made me reflect, create, and restructure.
Now we have developed a training course for aspiring Stylists, The Impeccable Style Academy. It’s an 8-week certification course that prepares stylists for a thriving personal shopping & image consultancy business. We will actually make our debut on the campus of Cal State University, Long Beach this fall!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Impeccable Style – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m most proud of the fact that We educate. We style. We love our customers, and partners. We’ve had a few celebrity clients as well.
Most proud moments and what sets me apart? I help my clients transform their lives, and business. I’m not just dressing them or shopping for them. I am dressing their brand. I am dressing them for the woman/girl boss they are becoming. 90% of my clients have made claims to having more money, more clients, more sex, and more joy after working with me.They learn to flaunt their femininity, exude sex appeal, confidence, and sassiness. I teach them how to own, honor, and unleash their feminine power through the wardrobe, social etiquette, and style. It’s the most fulfilling experience life could give.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
What I love best about LA : the diversity, the hustle, the creatives, the adventure, the mountains, the beaches, the desert. There’s never a dull moment in LA!
There’s no place like home. There’s no place like Los Angeles. The shopping, the eateries, the festivals, the stars, the hood, the common thread we all share by being Angelenos…it’s truly amazing.
What I like least: RENT AND TRAFFIC!! Both are outrageously ridiculous… for no reason at all. I can deal with anything else, but the traffic drives me crazy!
