Meet Deana Vera of Deana Sophia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deana Vera.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Deana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was originally born in Kazakhstan and moved to the states when I was eight years old. I discovered my love for electronic music at an early age. After moving to Philadelphia, I was further immersed in the scene of underground music. It wasn’t until I was about 21 that I decided to turn my love for underground music into a career.

Since I’ve begun deejaying, I have opened for artists such as Nicole Moudaber, Tale of Us, Eli & Fur, Oliver Heldens, Green Velvet, Victor Calderone, and many other renowned acts, leading to my recent set at the Elrow Festival at Avant Gardner in Brooklyn. I’ve been playing more and more on the east coast, west coast and South America.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies. I’m sure anyone in the entertainment industry could agree that it’s a lot of hard work and sometimes things can get very frustrating because results aren’t instant.

What else should our readers know?
I am a techno DJ/Producer. I am most proud of actually just doing what I am passionate about.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have most definitely had good luck within this industry so far. I was able to start playing gigs all around Philadelphia right when I started because I already knew so many people within the industry.
