Meet Dawn Grabowski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Grabowski.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I saw the Broadway Show Annie when I was six years old, I knew I wanted to be an Actress. From that moment on, I was compelled to follow my dreams. After studying Drama in school, I knew I had no other choice, but to pursue my Acting Dreams here in Hollywood, CA. A two weeks vacation turned into the career I have now – all these years later.

Has it been a smooth road?
As a Person/Performer With A Disability (PWD) there have been many challenges both literally, and figuratively. ( I was born with Spastic Cerebral Palsy. I use a wheelchair and/or crutches daily). Sometimes literally getting into a building is the challenge of the day. Other times, changing someone’s Mind Set is the obstacle. Personally, I feel changing someone’s Mind Set is more difficult that climbing a flight of stairs. It is my goal (beyond being defined as a Character Actor by Hollywood) to convince Hollywood Executives that beauty and talent go beyond a dress size of two. Uniqueness and talent should be celebrated even if the package is Not typically seen in the Media.

Non-Traditional Casting should be the Standard, and the American Scene should accurately be Represented because it is 2019. To this day, it is still a struggle to be looked at as a Talented Actor, Writer, Filmmaker, Comic, Speaker, and Life Coach without my disability being referred to first. Some Individuals find my passion, enthusiasm, and intensity hard to accept. I find people sometimes have a problem with my personality because they have settled into life… This will NEVER be me. For me, I feel as though I have to be creative to breathe. So, there will always be something to create, work on, or do. I feel as though I could live to be 1,000 and there still wouldn’t be enough time to have adventures and create. Money is a valuable resource, but so is time.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a Talented Actor, Writer, Sit-Down Comic (because I am Not Qualified To Stand), Filmmaker, Producer Speaker, and Life Coach. As someone who produces & financed (with the help of my personal Visa Card) their own Web Series’, Films, Jokes, and other Content I am most proud of the fact that I have actualized & finished all 11 projects that I have created. Besides my talent, what sets me apart is: I start what I finish. I have great drive, motivation, and passion for all my Artistic Endeavors, as well as life. I am proud of fact that No matter what the physical or artistic challenge is I see things through to a (hopefully) positive conclusion. I am proud of the fact that I have always intended to entertain, as well as enlighten through my work. I want people to have fun no matter what the Artistic Endeavor, but if people change their perspective and/or think that is a positive. Perhaps, my work will convince them/ make people realize that we, as human, are more alike than different

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over again, I wish I would have learned earlier in my career to find more of a balance in my work life and personal life. I have a great passion and love what I do. That being said, I wish I would have found fun items that weren’t necessarily work-related earlier in my career. I am learning to have more fun, and relax with opportunities and events that are Not attached to business. I have realized that life is a Marathon and Not a Sprint. I heard someone say recently that F.E.A.R.is False Emotions Appearing Real. This is a phrase that has really helped me. The Entertainment Industry, as with life has No Blue Print. My intention is to remember all these words. I believe I have realized it is important to put one foot in front of the other. To be more accurate for me, it is one crutch in front of the other, or one wheel in front of the other every day. It is, also, important to have a passion, and a purpose with everything I do, and remembering to breathe deeply is important too! To realize it is okay to change paths and find new passions without being hard on my self. I am appreciative, thankful and grateful for all that have suppported me, and assisted my on my journey.
