Today we’d like to introduce you to David Yamini, MD.
Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in Santa Monica with the dream of becoming a doctor, I always knew what I wanted my future career to be and I would do whatever it would take to get there. I attended medical school at the University of Miami, spending four difficult yet rewarding years earning my MD. Upon graduation, I returned home to Southern California for my residency and Gastroenterology fellowship. I started working, as most new specialists do, as an associate with a group of doctors. After roughly two years, I decided to make a change. I yearned to incorporate my own personal values and medical expertise put on a practice and take personal responsibility for the care of my patients, thus deciding to open my own private practice in Santa Monica. Making my own business and medical decisions has allowed me to dedicate more time to my patients both inside and outside of the office, and practice medicine in a more efficient and comprehensive manner that compliments my unique personal style, and more importantly, caters to the needs of my patients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like most valuable experiences in life, nothing worth having or doing comes easy. The road has not been smooth per se, but it has definitely been gratifying. The transition to solo private practice was definitely not easy at first. With all the financial stress brought on by insurance companies, there were many days when only a few patients walked into my office. However, I knew that by working hard to provide quality care to my patients and by paying full attention to their needs and concerns, I would slowly yet surely build a strong and respected reputation in the community.
I am happy to say that only 15 months after inception, I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with wonderful patients, which has subsequently inspired me to work harder to further build upon the successful practice I have today.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Westside Gastro Care, David Yamini, MD – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in treating disorders of the Gastrointestinal System and Liver.
I have established a special niche of successfully treating Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS), Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Internal Hemorrhoids via a simple and non-invasive banding procedure completed in the office, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) including Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, as well as offering thorough and personalized routine Screening Colonoscopies and Upper Endoscopies (EGD).
I’m very proud of my comprehensive approach to my practice, and listening to my patient’s specific health issues and treating both acute and chronic GI problems. This has enabled me to maintain a focus on adopting a strong preventative approach for various gastrointestinal diseases such as colon cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, SIBO, and IBS, and at the same time decisively and thoroughly treating specific Gastrointestinal diseases that arise amongst my patients.
My unique approach to focusing on every patient’s core Gastrointestinal issues, attentive and helpful staff, ready availability and thoroughness to provide quality care to my patients is what I truly believe sets me apart from other medical professionals in the community.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My immediate plan for the future is to continue building my practice and expand the scope of patients that I can attend to in order to address and treat their various gastrointestinal ailments.
I plan to continue to provide comprehensive care to my patients without sacrificing the quality of medical care, which proves difficult when under pressure are brought on by various insurance companies to practice medicine the way they seem fit. I look forward to practicing as I see fit; treating my patients as I would treat my own loved ones.
I recently opened up a second office in Beverly Hills and I’m looking forward to continue growing professionally and personally as a caring and dedicated Gastroenterologist for my community.

Getting older is sometimes scarey. Dr. Yamini is thorough and
answers questions and has gained 100% of my trust and respect.
He first treated me in the hospital in 2014. When I needed him
In 2018 he was there. There should be six stars for Dr. Yamini!
