Today we’d like to introduce you to David Meltzer.
By his early 20s, David had risen to the top of his game in the business world, becoming a millionaire just nine months out of law school. He worked as an executive for several technology companies, including Westlaw, Thomson Reuters, Everypath, Accenture, and the PC-E Phone, lectured around the globe and saw rapid success in every business project he touched.
In his 30s as a multimillionaire, however, he went on a rapid downward spiral that ended in bankruptcy and losing a portfolio worth over $100 million. It was only then that David realized, in order to revive and thrive, he needed to codify the principles that brought him success. He blended spirituality with business and started to meld his newfound life and business outlook as CEO to sports super-agent Leigh Steinberg (played by Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire) at the renowned Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment agency. Eventually, David and Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon spun off their own company, founding Sports 1 Marketing in 2010, in order to “make a lot of money, help a lot of people, and have a lot of fun.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

David had a difficult relationship with his father for many years, especially after an incident where his father forgot his 10th birthday. Sports 1 Marketing is a global sports and entertainment marketing agency that was founded by pro football Hall of Fame quarterback, Warren Moon and veteran sports & technology executive, David Meltzer. Together, the pair leverages over $20 billion in relationship capital and combines for over 40 years of business experience. Sports 1 is known for bringing the right athletes, celebrities and entrepreneurs to projects in order to make a lot of money, help a lot of people, and have a lot of fun.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Breaking ground on two leadership and empowerment centers in Kenya and having my family by my side when we did it.
