Meet David Kidd

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Kidd.

David Kidd is a Songwriter, Music Producer, and Mix Engineer in the Los Angeles area. A high honors graduate of Berklee College of music, he currently specializes in alternative – electro pop with artists ranging from independent, to artists with various major labels. With a fairly large roster of clients like Sony, DreamWorks, Universal, and many various Recording Artist and Influencers as clients, the Kidd has been in the music game for the past ten years professionally in Los Angeles working specifically much in artist development as a passion and a fever. He works constantly on bringing a fresh approach to songwriting and sounds, drawing from influences from the early 90s and 2000s bringing them fresh spins in the now. He resides primarily in North Hollywood California at his home-based studio and a new production venture darXide productions is launching for 2020!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The music industry is constantly changing and one could say that it is an uphill battle steadily. It’s never really been easy and I have not been an overnight success story whatsoever but every year I get a little bit busier make a little bit more money I have a few more credits under my belt. So I cannot complain whatsoever. God has blessed me with being able to make a full living of this 24/7 and I love my job! Some of the struggles::: well there are always struggles… there have been unfortunate managers and artists who tend to take advantage of their stature and try to take credit for things that they don’t contribute to whatsoever, however 2020 brings a fresh approach and mentality.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would’ve reached out to record labels and managers much earlier. But I do think that there is something to be said about knowing when you’re ready and being realistic with your talents and what you have to offer. No one can do it all so I think it’s smart to specialize in an area and really go for it. I never had a Plan B and I think that’s why I’ve been able to do this for a living consistently. And honestly, I just worked 24 / 7 at it.
