Meet David and Daniel Clements of Twins Chiropractic and Physical Medicine in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to David and Daniel Clements.

David and Daniel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My brother and I are Identical Twins from Canada who have done everything the same including getting NCAA hockey scholarships to Minnesota. We both decided to become chiropractors and start our own practice together calling it Twins Chiropractic. Some partnerships don’t work however, when you’re an identical twin the trust is very high.
In our partnership, we don’t look at one plus one equaling 2 but one plus one equaling 11. Most people don’t realize at first that there are two of us because we look the same and just assume we are everywhere all the time. So it is always a comedic event when they see both of us together.

We always thought the name “Twins Chiropractic” was kind of corny but our patients referred to us as the twin chiropractors and not by our names so we went with it. This was a marketing success; our name flew through the OC from the various marketing tools we used. We quickly opened up our 2nd office due to the fast growing first office we started one year later. Then every year after we opened another office to have a totally of 4 fours throughout the OC. We also started a CrossFit Gym named “CrossFit Twins” which has blossomed into another gem.

We owe a lot of our success to our natural understanding of each other and the commitment we have to not letting the other down. Although our roles differ in our corporation which is called “Twins Wellness” everything we do is fare and split down the middle. We are the closest of friends and we try at all costs to work alongside each other whenever possible. Our employee base consists of 47 employees with 8 doctors working under us.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was never easy, there was many challenges to overcome along the way. First, off the first week we were open for business in our very first office we made $10 the whole week and we had to split that. At that moment, we started to sweat thinking of how we were going to meet the overhead for the month. That lit a fire under our butts to make us go out into the trenches and tell absolutely everyone we could about chiropractic and its benefits for helping people to achieve their health goals. We did spinal screenings at every expo possible, health talks, joined sports teams to get to know more people and whatever.

We also came to a problem of being in more than one place at one time and hiring another chiropractor essentially our triplet was very hard and we were very picky during the interview process.

We also, found that we were not experts at business and quickly found out that because you’re a doctor doesn’t mean you know business. We hired as many advisors as possible, bookkeepers, CPA’s which is know our CFO, finical advisors, and met with other business owners to get advice.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Twins Chiropractic and Physical Medicine story. Tell us more about the business.
My brother and I are both Chiropractors but now we focus on running operations so that the patients coming in get the best care possible.

One of the things that we are most proud of is the quality of the adjustment we give. We have high expectations for our chiropractors that work for us and they must be able to deliver quality treatment for each and every patient coming into our office.

We strive to have 5 star facilities and services for each patient. This is what sets us apart from everyone else.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t say luck as much to do with our success. However, we will say that we have been blessed beyond belief from God and He is the one directing our company in the direction that it is going. There have been many doors shut that has allowed other doors to open that had greater opportunity for us.
