Meet David Burger

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Burger.

David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in North Hollywood on Heinz Avenue in a rather small house in 1969. Before I turned five we moved to Granada Hills to a large two-story home in an affluent neighborhood. My dad was instrumental in and the commissioner of starting AYSO region 174. By the time I was 12 years old, the IRS and FBI has seized our home and my dad disappeared. My mom who had been a very good-looking housewife with a drinking problem, all of a sudden had to figure out what to do with three children no job no money. We moved to Pacoima where I was robbed getting off the bus by two grown men with a knife the day I took a bus to our new home.

Long story short I got in trouble had two strikes to life changed, got my GED became a teacher and a comedian. I am now in the process of starting a bunch of small safe schools which offer a sort of little house on the prairie experience in the city. I am also a full-time single father of three I am 100% Jewish look Arayan, speak Spanish and have mixed children.

Has it been a smooth road?
Unbelievable amount of struggle from being banned to everything.

Tell us more about your work.
I’m starting schools for children with behavior problems as well as creating a nutritionally balanced safe environment children from lower-income areas to have the best chance to succeed

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love LA because of its origin. It was the nicest people, the kindest people, the most thoughtful people who were laid back sort of surfer hippies

I do not like the city has been mated to a mecca for tourism only and fell on me and has lost the beauty that was the people.
