Meet David Assil of Madison in Beverly Hills and Brentwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Assil.

David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Madison was opened in March of 1989. We became one of the leading boutiques in the world by being one of the first to bring in lines such as Prada, Miu Miu, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, jimmy Choo, Marni, Chloe as well as the relaunch of YSL and Valentino as well as many others. By 2008 we felt the major designers were overly saturated in the market place and began to bring in what we believe would be the new designers which our clients would love as the next generation. We have been voted one of the world’s best boutiques in FootWear News and Vogue Italia just to name a few.

Has it been a smooth road?
Never always smooth. 2008 was incredibly difficult as the world markets melted down. Retail is still spinning and having it’s clean out phase as we speak.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Madison – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are one of the leaders who bring in the best and youngest trend setting designers before anyone else.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Los Angeles sets the trend for fashion now as its been the city where people mix clothing together better than anywhere else in the world. Women will wear a Chanel jacket with a pair of jeans and not be afraid to do so. This started in LA and the mixture of looks has accelerated here and the rest of the world has been following this since the mid-2000s.

On dislikes…wish we had more of an art culture.
